[history]
On Wednesday, the Jerusalem-born actress objected tartly in the Harvard Crimson to law student Faisal Chaudhry's April 11 essay on U.S. policy concerning Israel and the Palestinians.
Portman continued: "Outrageous and untrue finger-pointing is a childish tactic that disregards the responsibility of all parties involved."

Sadly, the monetary value of Natalie's "assets" dropped when the paparazzi caught her at the beach one day going topless. Those shots may be some of the most popular photos on the less savory side of the net (no, not DU, the porn side).

I should have clarified. I'm Irish. US politics interests me a bit because it's the world leader in most things. But as for this Israel thing... How you say in your country? "Enough already?"

Kirkpatrick was wrong that time. The people of the Falklands were free subjects of the UK. They spoke English. They didn't want to be citizens of Argentina, a military dictatorship where the people spoke another language. To allow the invasion to stand would have sent the wrong message. From a Realpolitik point of view, the UK and Thatcher were much more important to the US than Argentina -- still are.

The UK just sucks up to us because they know they would be NOTHING in a united Europe without their "special relationship." Like the British people though, particularly the Scots and Welshies.

Your disdain for the "Haavaad educated" surely comes from the fact that you graduated from the world's greatest University, no?

Just kidding :-)

Yes. Remember, when you need someone to hold your hand, get a Harvard man. When you need someone to get the job done, get a Chicago man!

"Harvard-educated" has always been a negative for me. I have hated anyone who has gone to that school.I don't blame you, especially when it comes to young rich popular actors and actresses. Somehow they just all magically manage to be brilliant enough for the Ivy League, don't they? Hmmmm!
And, oddly, the stupidest people I've ever met went to Harvard. So has one of the smartest, but the ratio is definitely skewed in support of the "you get in based on who you know, not what you know" theory.
(For undergrads anyway. The grad schools still actually have prestige.)

Ah, but Israel is the point man for the West. The destruction of Israel will simply encourage the Islamofascists to move on to the next target - Europe.
Another reason that Israel is a big topic here at FR is that Americans are still a religious people when compared to Europe. We are also a Judeo-Christian nation. No European nation has that first element. And Hitler sadly reduced the Jewish minorities of Europe to very low levels so that today Islamic minorities greatly outnumber the Jews.
This is not the case in the US. In fact, Hindus and Buddhists in several recent self-identification surveys have had numbers not to far below Muslims. If further Islamic terrorist attacks occur on US soil, the odds are very good that immigration from Islamic countries will be greatly reduced, increasing the odds that Buddhists and Hindus will become bigger US minorities than Muslims. Those two faiths are likely to have an even more hostile attitude towards Islam than do Christian and Jewish fundamentalists.

A nation with Trident submarines, that's the world's 3rd most powerful nuclear nation, that still has massive investments around the world, who's former colonies dominate the world, that is the only country besides the US capable of projecting military power around the globe, and is still the biggest financial market outside the US or Tokyo, is not nothing. Especially when you consider their relatively small population for such power.
