President Bush is the leading obstacle to controlling illegal immigration in this country and his "open door" border policy is a threat to national security, the Republican chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus said yesterday.
Rep. Tom Tancredo told editors and reporters in a luncheon meeting at The Washington Times that Mr. Bush is out of step with the majority of Americans who want immigration reform and that his "altruistic views" on the subject were an open invitation to new terrorist attacks.

Ex-Tyson manager found shot dead
Friday, 04/19/02
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - One of six former Tyson Foods Inc. managers indicted in an immigrant smuggling case was found dead yesterday, authorities said.
Investigators said James Rowland, 36, was found with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest.
Detective Chris White of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department told WSMV-Channel 4 that Rowland, who had been missing since Monday, had been depressed. His body was found in his truck in a cattle field.
A former manager at Tyson's Shelbyville plant, he was indicted Dec. 11 in Chattanooga on federal charges of conspiring to smuggle illegal immigrants to work at company plants.
I'll say we do. Speaking of Tancredo, I hear he may be on Fox News with John Gibson today at about 5:20 PM EDT, 2:20 Pacific.
Well if you don't think that this latest version os "limited" amnesty is in fact amnesty there is no use in trying to convince you. We've been through it many times here and I really don't want to start arguing it all over again.
Moving oN tho. Amnesty talk by our President is not just that. Amnesty talk from our President is as good as policy.
Explain please.
Explain stopping them at the border? Easy. Threat of force. Use of force. Instant deportation. Imposing physical barriers.
I understand your points. I just don't think that cutting off welfare will ever do what you think it will do until all welfare is abolished. Collecting assistance while illegally in country is already illegal. Hiring illegals is already illegal. Crossing the border illegally is already illegal. My point is that adding more laws/regulations/procedures to the law-book when the current laws, if enforced, would do the trick is folly. The immigrants obviously don't care to follow the law and our officials don't care to enforce the law. Just adding more laws won't work.
If you were to consider massive illegal imigration as a real threat to our country (as I'm sure you know I do) you would know/understand that we need to keep 'em out first. Second, we can figure out how to remove the incentives and close the border by economic/superfiscial means.

That's EXACTLY what I've been thinking, both with this and his Middle East dilly-dallying. If ANY American dies while he's doing this kind of crap, the blood will be on HIS hands.
Yah. Shooting myself in the chest is the way I would want to go. I'd make sure and do it with a .22 so that I may have even less chance of dying right away. Great gooogly-ooooglys, they expect us to buy this?

You mean, shoot them. Otherwise, deportation and physical barriers are already in place.
It doesn't matter if all employers immediately stopped hiring illegal aliens today, we STILL need
border control! - RickyJ
Put those two ideas together and you have the perfect anti-illegal immigration and border control
enforcement plan.
As the final means of stopping them, yes, shoot them.
As for the rest of your post.
Deportation. Deportation takes weeks. In the mean time they get free meals and shelter paid for by us. Solution. Gag and bind them like the GitMo detainees, bus them back to the border and drop 'em of on their side.
Physical Barriers. You're wrong, we have virtually no barriers outside of the entry and exit point that are guarded by the inept INS. Solution. Erect a wall. Digg a really deep trench. Staff the border with Marines. Whatever it takes to make it really hard to get across without getting caught.

The United States didn't become a great country by worrying about what others thought about us. I think what would really make us look silly is if we continue to have lax border control enforcement and as a result terrorists easily sneak in and set off a nuclear weapon in downtown Los Angeles, or Chicago, or New York that kills 50,000 to 100,000 Americans. Now that would make us look unbelievably silly!
As the final means of stopping them, yes, shoot them.
Erect a wall. Digg a really deep trench. Staff the border with Marines. Whatever it takes to make it really hard to get across without getting caught.
As I said, your proposed solution means more expenditures and bigger government and it will not completely eliminate the problem.
Gotta go now.
