Today, she's 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 435 pounds. "I have more mobility," she said. "I can go to Wal-Mart and buy clothes off the rack. And I can go out with pride without worrying about people saying, 'Look at that fat person.'I didn't know 5'2 435 wasn't considered fat.

I didn't know 5'2 435 wasn't considered fat.Considering that's a third of what she used to weigh, I think that's great.
I don't think that any of us can understand what that woman went through. I constantly complain that I can't get off the "baby fat" I accumulated through three pregnancies, but thinking about it, I'm only 20 pounds more than I was when I got married, and I wasn't overweight then -- and had three babies since!
I think we shouldn't be making jokes about this poor woman and her family. I think this is a lesson to parents: when kids start gaining excess weight, it's time to do something -- not just healthy snacks and exercize, but maybe find out WHY your child is getting obese.

I vaguely remember a Sam Kinison bit along those lines - yeah, it's great that she lost all that weight, and God bless, too. But...she still weighs 400 freaking pounds, for crying out loud.

I didn't know 5'2 435 wasn't considered fat. That is considered LESS fat than 1,200 lbs.

Today, she's 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 435 pounds. And rated one of Portland's slimmest women.

Well, admittedly she is still obese, but the difference between what she was and what she is now is truly remarkable. Considering the muscles she must have developed simply to sit up at her old weight, now that she is a third of her former maximum weight, she probably feels very energetic now. Yes, her weight can still kill her, but she probably added at least 10 years to her life by losing 800 pounds.

I didn't know it was mobile, either.

I agree, at 6'2" & 290lbs I'm no light weight myself & I'm a foot taller than her & pump weights like crazy & I'm here to tell you that you can't just go to Wal Mart & fit somebody as big as she is. I do know that it is a hard thing to deal with ones weight though & we should be happy that she is at least trying to get it under control but I have to admit 5'2" at 1200lbs almost seems to be an unobtainable weight.
