What avout jobs? Industry there?

Industry is mostly port-related (6th largest port in the country) and oil companies. There's a big push to give the tourist industry a "kick start" by redoing the bayfront/marina/downtown (yes, it's all the they're same place!) area. Salaries aren't the highest here, but the cost of living (real estate taxes aside) is lower than most of the country. I've lived in lots of areas that are worse. Oh - we also have one college (Del Mar) and one university (Texas A&M - Corpus). If you have a master's, they are ALWAYS begging for adjunct faculty in almost every area.

There is lots of beautiful land - and land that looks beautiful in Spring but is desolate in August. Some pretty land is near Valley Mills - which isn't far from Crawford in central Texas.
