Almost a 40 foot wing span, huh? Man, thats still a lot of horizontal damage, I would estimate 150 feet across.

. I can't think of any reason for a competent pilot to slam into a building even with engine trouble.

Try this. The pilot suffers an major heart attack and trys radioing an SOS, but he dies. Does the plane know how to fly or land itself?

Well if I was a terrorist and wanted to get my plane into a downtown area without getting shot down I would say I was having engine trouble too.

Look at the picture. It certainly did hit the horizontal center of the building.

Italian authorities just announced that this was an accident - smoke was coming from the plane before it hit - pilot said he was having problems with flying the plane - pilot sent an SOS - just reported in a statement from Italian Authorities. So there you have it....

The flight plan, I'm presuming, was filed by the 70 year old guy. Have they found his body in the skyscraper? If not, have they searched the airport he took off from?

"If the pilot had no control of the flaps, then it can happen"

Well... you just lost all your flying knowledge points with this one. I would also think you have "center" confused with "middle". The plane did hit "Top Center".

Piper Seneca II

Is that all it was? That's just a 4-6 passenger light twin. (If you have 6, you can't carry baggage) Its not even a heavy twin. It carries 120 gallons of fuel total. Wow. That's a lot of damage for such a tiny plane. Its essentially a Piper Cherokee VI with a twin engine.

AND if one engine were NOT operating properly, its sounds even more difficult to slam it into a building with wings level. It would not want to fly straight and level.

You would think these people would at least try to get their stories straight before releasing all of this "information".

If the pilot did not want to get shot down before hitting his target, wouldn't it make sense for him to broadcast an SOS?

Shot down by who? Italians are not flying around looking to shoot planes down :P Planes fly over this city all the time. There was not threat of it getting shot down. But whatever...a lot of people on here will be posting conspiracy theories soon. Let the fun begin...
