I saw a group of people who probably had the s&!t kicked out of them every day in high school because they looked or acted queer. They are trying to stop it from happening to other kids. Good for them. It utterly amazes me that a group of adults would de facto support the bullying of children.
After this vote, GLSEN will be in the schools tomorrow morning. That's a fact.
No. GLSEN will be added to a list of sponsored programs for teachers who want information on the subject. And there was an amendment added stressing the Board’s ability to remove the group from that list. I read some of the link posted on this thread, and they painted the group in a rather unfavorable light. Perhaps people should go to the actual site and read what they have to say for themselves. I saw nothing about encouraging students to engage in underage sex and nothing encouraging anyone to adopt a dangerous lifestyle.
After examining the half truths and quotes out of context presented on this thread, then letting the group speak for itself, it’s pretty clear that smear tactics were used. I’m glad the Board saw through them, and I’m glad GLSEN won the day.
You've got the facts as best as they can be obtained via the net here. What they did elsewhere is what they will most likely attempt in Broward. We can only judge them by past behavior, and that record has been dismal.
We are witnessing the effects of homosexuals in leadership/power positions now with the travesty occuring in the Catholic Church. Is there any reason to believe that they won't end up causing the same problems here?
What we have witnessed is a small group of people who support abhorrent behavior now in a position to indoctrinate youth in a public forum subsidized by Broward County tax payers.
Once again, a minority of liberals has dictated their beliefs over the majority who stand firmly against it.
What you've seen on the GLSEN site is nothing compared to what was there before they lost the vote in October. They cleaned up the site so that people who are new to the issue would not be outraged at what they intend to do.
I will say it again. Attempting to inflict behavior on children which is contrary to that which the parents have raised them by can not be tolerated. This is not over by a long shot.
