The address above will take you to a website that shows a brief sneak preview from "Episode 2:Attack of the Clones." It depicts a conversation that, to put it very mildly, expresses a hard-core Marxist sentiment. Don't read it if you're concerned about spoiling the movie.
Personally, I'm sick about it. I have been a Star Wars fan for 20 years, but I don't think I will see the movie if this dialogue is representative of the movie as a whole.
Maybe some of you folks know something about what Lucas is up to. Forgive me if the link doesn't work, I've only posted once or twice before. Take care, ChiefsMan.

It goes to a comic book page, not a preview, and it has some characters saying they are in favor of capitalism and free trade. These characters aren't the good guys, but it isn't obvious that they are bad because they are capitilasts and I didn't see any Marxism.

crap, if true, and it wouldn't surprise me. Lucas is a fruitcake

you are joking, right?
To: ChiefsMan
I didn't take that to be a pro-Marxist exchange, I took it to be anti-free trade. It sounds like they want to enhance their own profits, not to establish a workers paradise.

George Lucas resides in Marin County in his own Graceland type (i.e. isolated playground) environment. 'Nuff said?!

Return of the Jedi was a Luddite screed. Ewoks beating the Empire? Stupid stupid stupid. Lucas has a fascination with backwards cultures triumphing over advanced ones.Jedi also proved he's an incredible dunce when it comes to knowledge of the effective application of military force. I shouldn't be too hard on him though, noone in hollywierd seems to understand this.

To be fair, George Lucas is also a thorn in the side of a lot of the San Francisco Liberal Political Establishment as his new movie studio will operate out of the Presidio, which they felt should have housed a big homeless sanctuary, or some other progressive political action committee.

Have you ever heard the maxim "Never judge a book by it's cover". Think about it.

Episode I was an anti-capitalism screed. Why would you expect Episode II to be any better?
Hollywood is consumed by the Left. That's why I don't go to movies nor do I watch much TV.
If you want to read an unbelievably good, pro-freedom, pro-capitalism novel (better than The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged) read "Faith of the Fallen" by Terry Goodkind. It destroys the Left's gospel that successful people are evil and that freedom is ephemeral.

And why do you suspect that the Jedi are almost completely wiped out by the evil empire? Could this be a related reason?

I'm taking your spoiler warning seriously and thus I haven't gone to the site to see for myself what's up; but, having the principle characters espousing Marxism wouldn't be a bad thing. At this point in the Star Wars "history", the Republic is about to collapse into tyranny. How many real republics have collapsed into despotism as a result of Marxism? Though this may not be what was intended by Lucas & Co., seeing the Galactic Republic fall as a result of Marxism would be a good object lesson for movie-goers. "See? Even Jedi knights cannot keep Socialism from going bad."

They absolutely are bad guys, and I'd be interested in hearing what you think would qualify as Marxism. The plotters are flat out saying they are planning a coup to pursue the cause capitalism, which would include low taxes and free trade.
