Dear Mr. President:
We write out of deep concern over your response to the recent events in the Middle East. While we appreciate the importance of sending Secretary of State Colin Powell to the region, we are troubled by certain developments that have occurred during his trip. By urging the resumption of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), before the PA officially abandons their policy of suicide homicides against civilian populations, you have dramatically changed your steadfast policy towards not meeting with Chairman Arafat until he commits to a cease?fire.
As long as Arafat continues to support and fund terrorists, it is difficult to conceive that any progress can be made from meeting with him. Most worrisome, a meeting between Secretary Powell and Chairman Arafat in light of today's attack in Jerusalem validates the contention that Arafat is gaining ground through his strategy of terror.
If Secretary Powell meets with Chairman Arafat, we hope that the Secretary will make it clear that this is his final opportunity. In the past, Mr. Arafat has proven himself to be unreliable in following up with commitments to peace. Consequently, we believe that Secretary Powell should demand that Mr. Arafat act to eradicate the terrorist networks operating under his authority. Secretary Powell should make clear that if he does not comply, the United States will sever all ties with him.
Finally, we are dismayed by the pressure on Israel to withdraw from Palestinian towns before the Israeli military has had a chance to complete its operations. As the United States knows from its experience in Afghanistan, an operation of this kind takes time. If Israel is not allowed to complete its campaign, more Israeli lives will be vulnerable to future rounds of suicide bombings. If there is to be peace, Israel needs to isolate those elements of the Palestinian Authority that threaten its existence.
Thank you for your attention to our concerns. We look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Charles E. Schumer
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Susan Collins
Gordon Smith
Jon Corzine

...It was The Enemy Within ..HILLARY CLINTON.. that first publically pushed the BUSH Administration to get more "Involved" in the Middle East when it didn't want to. Then ..HILLARY's.. Mouthpiece Senator ARLEN SPECTOR chimed in right behind her on National TV the same day. And then it was a ..HILLARY CLINTON.. controled mainstream news media that picked up the ball from there.I highly suspect that Ms. Clinton doesn't want President Bush to pursue the Bin Ladin/ Sadem Hussein angle, because it will lead to discovering SOMEONE else is pulling the strings.
When I read her website at www.clinton.senate.gov I can't believe how Ms. Clinton toots her own horn! The Attack of 9-11 served VERY WELL to give Hillary a CHANCE to be SUPERWOMAN and solve all of New York's problems with money, grants, projects etc ...
And NOW, when our President takes ACTION, Hillary is right at the center of the MOB getting her turn at critisizing him!
We, the United States of America, are in this TERRORIST mess, because of President Bill Clinton and HIS Co-President Hillary Rodham.
How DARE she, of over 100 senators, stand up to throw stones!
She is acting mighty powerful these days, coming to California to BACK Democrat Gov. Gray Davis to guarantee him a win in November, an effort designed to HELP HER when she RUNS FOR PRESIDENT in 2004..
The Democrats NEED California's win to put the BEAST in.
Everything Hillary Clinton does is designed to put HER and BILL back in Power.

I agree. She could even be worse than Hitler.

I don't trust Bush too much either after he lied about the tax rebate from last year. Free and clear my foot. You had to deduct it from your taxes this time.
But if there are no other options, then Bush sits on Billery's face.

Andrew Sullivan: Victory for Bush in Iraq will bring peace in Israel
The Sunday Times (U.K.) | 04/14/2002 | Andrew Sullivan In most of the major news- papers in America and abroad, the key word to describe President Bushs recent Middle East policy has been reversal. Thats the polite version: incoherence, disarray, humiliation are the words one hears behind closed doors. The argument goes something like this: after months of deliberate disengagement, Washington has finally relented and re-engaged with the intractable Israeli-Palestinian dispute. After once advocating a crude black and white approach to terrorism, the Americans have finally been persuaded by their European friends and Arab allies, that the Middle East is, in fact, a painting in greys. You cant speak...

I agree that it is positively frightening to find oneself in agreement with Hildeb*tch. Always remember, though-- hers are the most ulterior and self-serving motives.

"What do you think of the republicans who signed it?"
They are fools to fall into the 'bi-partisan' with DemocRATS. . .
This is not a matter of simple disagreement or even principled; if it were; they would not write a letter; they would have shared their opinions with Bush already.
This is 'politics' for public consumption only. . .

She may have signed that letter BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT IS IN HER HEART! She is a liar of the first degree. She hates the Truth. She hates lovers of the Truth. She hates our Constitution. She hates our Bill of Rights. She hates anyone who loves this country, loves God, loves the preservation of the family, love the education of our children, loves the right and desire to live freely and work to gain one's own wealth. I could go on but I'm out of breath. LOL! I'm with you on all of your points. She is evil. There is definitely an agenda for this.

Thats right, thats exactly what it is. You can always count on a couple of Northeast or Northwest liberal republicans to side with the rats over their President. They make me ill, especially Gordon "ensoulment" Smith.

Whats happening is that demorats are taking advantage of the fact that Bush was weak in his response to this situation. It does not matter that they were in bed with Arafat before. Eventually Bush will acknowledge that Arafat can not be trusted or negotiated with and will support Sharon full force. Demorats want to come out looking like they told Bush what to do.

when he goes into Saudi, iran .... Patience is indeed a virtue, particularly at this time. GWB is not only patient, he has great compassion towards the welfare of Americans, specially on the US Military, who he will put in great numbers in harms way, if he goes after all the arab states unecessarily. The President is working very hard to focus on the terrorist who wants to do harm to the USA. The USA is unquestionably the most powerful nation in the world, but our power is not unlimited. If we are to win against terror, the President must husband this power very carefully. So please have patience, else our lives could become very misirable very quickly, unnecessarily.

Why Jane, the answer to this is all so simple! Didn't Hillary and Maddie Albright both discover their Jewish roots a few years ago?

Whats happening is that demorats are taking advantage of the fact that Bush was weak in his response to this situation. The question is why has he acted this way, no?
It does not matter that they were in bed with Arafat before. Eventually Bush will acknowledge that Arafat can not be trusted or negotiated with and will support Sharon full force.
Bush has never trusted or dealt with Arafat. He has REFUSED to meet with Arafat since the inception of his Presidency because he knows what Arafat his. So that again begs the question, why?
Demorats want to come out looking like they told Bush what to do
Bush defined, embodied and made a household term "moral clarity". The rats did the same for "moral depravity". Nothing will change that.
To: Libertina
I agree, look at it this way. All the Democrats are signing up for the Arafat is a terrorist parade. When Bush finally goes after Saddam Hussein, those same Rats will be forced to support going after Iraq. How can they support Israel crushing Arafat's terror buddies, but not the Evilest of the Evid Doers?
Bush has thought this out.
To: reformjoy
She is from New York. That is the reason...DOESN'T WANT TO UPSET THOSE JEWISH VOTERS.....politics, not principle. Not that I disagree with her, but it is obviously a political reason when she is as left as can be.
