USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

I Could Have Danced All Night

A wonderful party yesterday, everyone - I still haven't read the whole thread - but certainly over 30 hours of dancing and romancing were goin' on! I always feel a little bad I can't spend as much time here as so many of you do, and the weekends are never predictable for me. Hope you all understand it's not because I wouldn't like to be here.

Kudos once again to all of you who made yesterday's dance marathon such a huge success - you nearly hit the 1000 mark. (I don't think Tonk and Donna were even aware of anyone else around though.....:). I surely felt a lot of love in the "room" reading over a few of the late posts.)

I'm so proud of you all for making this place so enjoyable and fun for our military guys and gals who read it. Thanks for the emails you post, Bunny, from some of those who let us know how much they appreciate the FReeper USO Canteen.

*L* Shoot Billie, I was up at 6:30am Eastern thanks to my youngest son.

Cleaned house yesterday, then we went out and proceeded to spend most of the rest of our tax refund *s* Got the washer and dryer (will be delivered tomorrow), a few things for the bathrooms, and a few more games for the PS2 we got. Gotta love the Navy Exchange though. Got a new TV, a DVD/VCR combo, and the washer/dryer pair from the Exchange this weekend. Tax free no less.

We'll be renting a car and driving back to our home state of KY to visit family (and to have the kids spoiled rotten by grandparents-did you expect any less?). I shouldn't have any trouble keeping up email-wise while we're gone, my parents have Net access and so does my hubby's mom. Have a great day!

Yesterday we had a few Freepers over for a small get together. What fun we had laughing and taking, eating and yes, drinking. G'nad and Mr. Teacup provided their home Brew beer. Mudpuppy made the most incredible baked beans, YUMMM! Well here we are:

Mr Teacup took the pictures and didn't erase them this time, LOL. As you could see, it was a bit over cast, and we had a few sprinkles, but it did not spoil our little get together. Wish ya all were here. Maybe one day the Canteen will have it's own get together.

I really hope the lurking members of the Armed Forces had fun with the thread. I am grateful for everything they do, and I wanted to give them something back. They deserve so much more than we could possibly give.

After some coffee and Danish rools, should we have a G.I. Party to clean up from yesterday's bash? Looks like a cyclone hit the place!

Oh, thank you for that laugh, Meek! Alec Bladwin is such a jerk - too bad *he* didn't make good on his promise to leave the country. Good on the Repubs who gave him the ticket! Wish he'd use it. I can't stand his smarmy face.

Afraid I missed the Canteen events yesterday. Checked in at 9 pm when the posts were at around 700. Now I see the thread broke 1000.

Today will be a continuation of busy activity while we work on the hot tub installation. Had all the family with us to help dig the hole and trenches for the piping and wiring. Even 6 yr. old Christian manned his own shovel. One s-i-l is an electrician and I'm a retired plumber so lots of labor costs were saved.

Looking forward to relaxing in the tub to soothe these aching muscles and bones.
