USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

Hello, my FRiends! Well, another tough week has come and gone. Mrs. Cut and I are doing well and are recovering nicely. We're both back at work, and thank you all again for your kindness and concern.
I began teaching a new class of nugget Aircrewmen this week, 10 fresh-faced boys and one equally fresh-faced girl. They're all good kids, they need a little of my patented, Petty Officer "guidance", as it were. If history holds, by the end of the course six months from now, I'll have whittled them down to less than ten. It's a tough course, and military aviation gives no second chances. I'd rather wash someone out than have them hurt themselves or a full crew.
So, it's been a week of PT, classroom stuff, quizzes, pushups, and inspections. The week's over, though, and this tall cold one in front of me tastes just wonderful. Here's to us, none like us!!

DOG PET PEEVES ABOUT HUMANS 1. When you run away in the middle of a perfectly good leg humping.
2. Blaming your gas on me...not funny.
3. Yelling at me for barking... I'M A FRIGGIN' DOG YOU IDIOT!!
4. How you naively believe that the stupid cat isn't all over everything while you're gone. (Have you noticed that your toothbrush tastes a little like cat butt?)
5. Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly who's walk is this anyway?
6. Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose...stop it.
7. Yelling at me for rubbing my butt on your carpet. Why'd you buy carpet?
8. Getting upset when I sniff the crotches of your guests. Sorry but I haven't quite mastered that handshake thing yet...idiot.
9. How you act disgusted when I lick myself. Look, we both know the truth, you're just jealous.
10. Dog sweaters. Have you noticed the fur? Imbecile.
11. Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons. Now you know why we chew your stuff up when you're not home.
12. When you pick up the crap piles in the yard. Do you realize how far behind schedule that puts me?
13. Taking me to the vet for "the big snip", then acting surprised when I freak out every time we go back.
14. The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog! What a proud moment for the top of the food chain, you nitwit.
15. Invisible fences. Why do you insist on screwing with us? To my knowledge, dogdom hasn't yet solved the visible fence problem!!

.. I'd rather wash someone out than have them hurt themselves or a full crew. ..I am so thankful for this attitude. You are doing more than the individual a service.
I hope you are planning to attend the dance Saturday night.

"They're all good kids, they need a little of my patented, Petty Officer "guidance", as it were."
With you as their instructor they will indeed get the guidance and education they need.
Thank You for being there!

I like to think that I care enough about
other people's kids to be tough on them. In this business, you have to be. They're all about 18-20 years old, with all that implies. Because of the requirements they have to meet just to get here, they're all pretty intelligent and cocky as well. It's a unique experience, to train kids like this, and be such an important part of their lives for six months. It's also an awesome responsibility, and one I take VERY seriously.
A good chunk of them want to go directly from here to the war zone. The gung-ho little buggers make me proud as hell. I want to do my part to bring them back safely. I'll probably be back in the Fleet myself, working on a crew with some of them before too long, so they BETTER be good!
I did not know there was a dance Saturday night! I'll see if Mrs. Cut has anything to do! What's the dress code?

It was excellent to see you and your son in the Canteen!
Is this a first for FR?

Thanks, Sam. We both coped, in our own ways. One day I went nutso on Amazon.com and got a bunch of DVD's I wanted, for instance. She got a treadmill. Mrs. Cut calls this "Theraputic Shopping". I've been relaxing with some cool movies this week after work, movies being one of my favorite hobbies.
I guess escapism helps. The news lately has been more grim than I really wanted to deal with when I was off-duty. And, classic Bogart and John Wayne movies are good places to escape to.

How come you have to pay someone to rotate your tires?
Isn't that the basic idea behind the wheel? Don't they rotate on their own?
Why is it when you turn on the TV you see ads for telephone companies, and when you turn on the radio you hear ads for TV shows, and when you get put on hold on the phone you hear a radio station?

We all deal with "life" in different ways. I escape into the Canteen, one of my computer sims or a good book.
Everyone needs an find a way to cope. I think the "Theraputic Shopping" is in a woman's genes. Thay all do it.
