I'm glad I wasn't there; I probably would have ended up in jail on charges of assault and battery.

What about the Mt. Scopus massacre, where the Arabs fired upon a convoy of abmulances, doctors and nurses killing apx 70 Jews?

What about the Hebron Massacre, when a mob of Palestinians raided a home where 67 Jews hid fearing for their lives -- all of them were butchered with sticks and axes. This happened in 1929! nearly 20 years before the creation of Israel.

The only attempt at ethnic cleansing is the racist Pan Arab and Pan Islamics who deny the right of Jews to self determination, demanding that Jews live as second class citizens under Arab or Islamic Sharia rule.

Don't be deceived. It is the Pan Arabism and the Pan Islamism -- racist, hateful ideologies -- that has driven this conflict since at least the 1920's.

But most students were not phased by the threat of possible suspension from UC-Berkeley and remained in the building.

Am I the only person who's bothered by the fact that we've become so damn illiterate that even journalists can't spell simple words like "fazed" anymore?

Or maybe I'm the only one who's poured over this stuff enough...

One protester wound up in jail on a charge of felony battery after he bit a police officer.

I was present at this protest (with the pro-Israel side, thankyouverymuch). The funniest part of the whole thing was that after being told by the cops that they would face arrest if they continued to lay siege to Wheeler hall, they started chanting about police "brutality". The protesters, in fact, directly accused the U.C. police department of this offense, for the obviously evil tactic of arresting people who break the law. Of course, the only actual brutality was this cop-biting dork. Freedom is slavery, I guess.

Hoang Phan, an English graduate student and member of Students for Justice in Palestine

Incredible. This kid is probably the child of Vietnamese refugees. His parents probably left VN with little more than the clothes on their back, worked hard, and now their kid is at Berkeley. Just like generations of immigrants and refugees have done all over the world for ages. And yet he sees fit to take the side of the Palestinian refugees, who uniquely have refused to assimilate, and are throwing a genocidal tantrum.

These are the same kids who just last week were eating monkey brains on MTV's Spring Break Fear Factor.

Hasn't the new quarter started yet?

I noticed...but to be fair, maybe he was using the alternate "star trek" spelling, as in "phaser" ? Like they weren't stunned by the threat of suspension ??

Nah....

If you want to know where the putative Vietnamese is coming from, besides South Vietnam, it is from the life-scarring knowledge that the U.S. Congress vacated the U.S. commitment to support the South Vietnamese resistance to Communist aggression after 2 million South Vietnamese (and 55,000 U.S. lives) had been sacrificed in a war which had been Americanized, and therefore made much more brutal, by JFK, when he agreed to Diem's assassination. The fact is that when Nixon let loose with the Christmas bombing of 1972, with a pledge to repeat it as often as necessary, the U.S. Congress got serious about removing Nixon from office so that it could vacate the U.S. commitment to South Vietnam. To do this, they nailed Nixon to the cross for 'Watergate', a two-bit burglary that didn't have nearly the constitutional importance of LBJ's personal order to the FBI to bug Nixon's 1968 presidential election plane. If you're right about his background, don't be too hard on the guy: he knows the Democrat U.S. Congress screwed him and his countrymen, and left them, and 3 million Cambodians, to the tender mercies of their Communist masters. The fact that this Congress will not let the same thing happen to Israel is what probably bothers him more than anything else.

Students for Justice in Palestine leaders contended, in the spirit of Deir Yassin, the rally aimed to condemn the racially motivated slaughter of innocents, and as such not only did not conflict with the aims of Holocaust Remembrance Day but reinforced them.

No one disagrees with us, we are always correct, if you believe you disagree with us, you are mistaken, you support your views by agreeing with us, our views are universal and you must conform to our views.

"The rally, organized by the campus group Students for
Justice in Palestine, drew approximately 1,000 people
to Sproul Plaza, where heated debates erupted
spontaneously in the audience. One man could be heard
denouncing an Israeli supporter as "a f_____ Nazi,"
and chants of "Stop the suicide bombings" rippled
throughout the crowd."

Sometimes it's a little hard to understand lefties when
they speak. Here's a short Leftese-English dictionary
including some common terms that they use:

Justice = Socialism
Peace = Socialism
Civil rights = Socialism
Equality = Socialism
Democracy = Socialism
Sustainable development = Socialism

While the left's love affair with the Arab tyrants, over democratic Israel, is based on racism, it is not so much anti-semitism, but rather their own belief that Arabs are not civilized therefore they cannot be held responsible for their actions, such as homicidal bombers, that motivates their sympathies.
