Incredible. This kid is probably the child of Vietnamese refugees. His parents probably left VN with little more than the clothes on their back, worked hard, and now their kid is at Berkeley. Just like generations of immigrants and refugees have done all over the world for ages. And yet he sees fit to take the side of the Palestinian refugees, who uniquely have refused to assimilate, and are throwing a genocidal tantrum.

Never underestimate the power of groupthink. This whole moral equivalency - is the world mad? myopic? blind?

If you want to know where the putative Vietnamese is coming from, besides South Vietnam, it is from the life-scarring knowledge that the U.S. Congress vacated the U.S. commitment to support the South Vietnamese resistance to Communist aggression after 2 million South Vietnamese (and 55,000 U.S. lives) had been sacrificed in a war which had been Americanized, and therefore made much more brutal, by JFK, when he agreed to Diem's assassination. The fact is that when Nixon let loose with the Christmas bombing of 1972, with a pledge to repeat it as often as necessary, the U.S. Congress got serious about removing Nixon from office so that it could vacate the U.S. commitment to South Vietnam. To do this, they nailed Nixon to the cross for 'Watergate', a two-bit burglary that didn't have nearly the constitutional importance of LBJ's personal order to the FBI to bug Nixon's 1968 presidential election plane. If you're right about his background, don't be too hard on the guy: he knows the Democrat U.S. Congress screwed him and his countrymen, and left them, and 3 million Cambodians, to the tender mercies of their Communist masters. The fact that this Congress will not let the same thing happen to Israel is what probably bothers him more than anything else.
