(Washington DC / Miami) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced that tomorrow, April 10, 2002, it will release documents revealing former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) Commissioner Doris Meissners orders to destroy evidence and obstruct justice in the illegal raid that returned Elian Gonzalez to Communist Cuba that resulted in the beating and gassing of dozens of peaceful protestors by INS agents. The documents were produced for the first time today in a trial before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), in Miami, concerning charges of retaliation against INS Special Agent Rick Ramirez, by his supervisors in the Miami District Office of the INS. An INS attorney, Diana Alvarez, produced the documents during sworn testimony in the hearing. Ramirez is an INS whistleblower who initially revealed the INS and Justice Department obstruction of justice and anti-Hispanic prejudice that pervaded the Elian Gonzalez saga.
The documents reveal that the U.S. government had information indicating that Juan Miguel Gonzalez (Elians father) had sought to leave Cuba for the United States. They also reveals the U.S. government was aware that Juan Miguel wanted Elian to stay in the U.S. and that the father was being coerced by the Castro regime.
INS attorney Rebeca Sanchez-Roig notes that she was ordered to destroy all documents, but retained a copy of the e-mail because she believed Meissners destruction orders to be improper.
Copies of the documents will be made available at the press conference.

You would be foolish to think that court wins equate success, especially when looking at the case of Judicial Watch. Judicial Watch has had some overwhelming odds against them in the past and still continue to. They have had to stand up to the political machine of Bill Clinton, who had endless resources (at taxpayer expense) and people standing up to defend him against his crimes. Now, they have either an incompentent or extremely uncooperative Administration and Justice Department to deal with. It seems that in Washington, the power protect the powerful, no matter what, especially when doing the right thing would affect their chance of being re-elected.
Now going back to the subject of success and Judicial Watch, I respectfully and vehemently disagree with you. I have followed Judicial Watch cases closely since I was in high school. One quick example was when Klayman subpoenaed Clinton fundraiser John Huang in 1996. It was because of Klayman's FOIA suits against the Commerce Department that we found out that the Clinton Administration was selling overseas trade missions to the highest bid for his presidential campaign chest. It was also the publicity that Klayman generated that sparked some tough congressional investigations into the Chinagate Scandal and Lippogate Scandals. In 1996, Klayman also forced fomer Clinton aide Harold Ickes to testify and got Pentagon spokesperson Ken Bacon to admit under oath that he leaked damaging information about Clinton whistleblower Linda Tripp, to the press. Because of Klayman's lawsuits and the revelations/facts that came from them, the government then fined John Huang $8 million in fines for campaign finance violations. John Huang will probably not commit these crony crimes again. Being cynical is always easy, but please, please, look at all the facts before arriving at so harsh a conclusion.
Because of Larry Klayman and Judicial Watch, many Americans are now aware of the horrible behavior of Bill Clinton and his political cronies. With valiant people such as the ones working at Judicial Watch around, American government is pressured to be a more honest place.
If so, could/can Klayman do anything about CRIMINAL violations?
If not, then who now has responsibility for investigating and prosecuting criminal matters of the sort uncovered?
If the answer is Ashcroft, then provide us with ANY indication that he is investigating?
If you can't, then are you critical of Ashcroft ... and Bush, his boss, for ignoring these serious crimes?
If not, then why not?
Secondly, I don't see that taking place with Klayman. Klayman is doing the people's work by educating them in spirit of God. I don't recognize that energy coming from Jackson.
As I said way back in #19 "You might want to mark this quote for future reference because you will probably learn the 'rest of the story' about JW sooner than later - newbie."
And you responded in #27 "I have done my homework regarding Judicial Watch and its founder, Larry Klayman. The more I learn, the more I like this organization and its figurehead. :) As for the newbie comment, I am not a little kid."
REALLY, NOW...after 286 posts, are you still up to keeping Larry "the KLAYCONMAN" up on that pedestal!?!
If so - more power to you, and may you continue to blessed with your devine ignorance - NEWBIE!
When Linda Tripp and Notra Trulock needed help, Larry Klayman and Judicial Watch were there to help them out when no one else would. Judicial Watch's actions are solid examples of true conservativsm. I wish that more people would get the clue.
The word is DIVINE not DEVINE.
Famous saying: People who live in glass houses should not throw bricks.
There is a difference between being inquisitive and being close-minded. It's just that the close-minded insist they as so smart because they have chosen to be ignorant.
OK Goldylocks. Where you from...California? Klayman is "doing the people's work"! Klayman is educating us in the spirit of God? Bull!!!
If you think Klaymans suit of the week has done anything more than make his bank account bulge, then you've been to one too many EST meetings.
I said that Jacksons results were negative. Klayman has no results. Nothing. Zippo. He's an egotistical, rich, zero personality, boring man who is ignored by virtually everyone.
Well he certainly is not ignored by person's like myself. And as for him being "egotistical, rich, zero, personality, boring man........" Well....... so are the Clintons....both whom are a bunch of egotistical, rich, lying pieces of dungheap, commie white trash, that American citizens should never trust let alone shake hands with! And if they do, they should go wash their hands immediately!! There's blood on the Clinton's hands as well as the political feces they want to shove down our throats.
