MEDIA ADVISORY

JUDICIAL WATCH UNCOVERS FORMER INS COMMISSIONER MEISSNER’S ORDERS TO DESTROY EVIDENCE IN DECISION TO RETURN ELIAN GONZALEZ TO CUBA AND SUBSEQUENT, ILLEGAL RAID ON GONZALEZ FAMILY HOME

Press Conference For Release of Documents

Date: April 10, 2002

Time: 8:00 AM

Place: Sheraton Biscayne Bay

495 Brickell Avenue

Parlor 3

Miami, FL

(Washington DC / Miami) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced that tomorrow, April 10, 2002, it will release documents revealing former Immigration and Naturalization Service (“INS”) Commissioner Doris Meissner’s orders to destroy evidence and obstruct justice in the illegal raid that returned Elian Gonzalez to Communist Cuba that resulted in the beating and gassing of dozens of peaceful protestors by INS agents. The documents were produced for the first time today in a trial before the Merit Systems Protection Board (“MSPB”), in Miami, concerning charges of retaliation against INS Special Agent Rick Ramirez, by his supervisors in the Miami District Office of the INS. An INS attorney, Diana Alvarez, produced the documents during sworn testimony in the hearing. Ramirez is an INS whistleblower who initially revealed the INS and Justice Department obstruction of justice and anti-Hispanic prejudice that pervaded the Elian Gonzalez saga.

The documents reveal that the U.S. government had information indicating that Juan Miguel Gonzalez (Elian’s father) had sought to leave Cuba for the United States. They also reveals the U.S. government was aware that Juan Miguel wanted Elian to stay in the U.S. and that the father was being coerced by the Castro regime.

INS attorney Rebeca Sanchez-Roig notes that she was ordered to destroy all documents, but retained a copy of the e-mail because she believed Meissner’s destruction orders to be improper.

Copies of the documents will be made available at the press conference.

Well,if it was supposed to be kept quite, who leaked it ? Why do we all know about it ? Though I suspect that many newbies here, don't know about it at all.

Look, Larry has turned into one on the most bizarre self aggrandizing, money grubbing / beggars, ambulence chasers, with NO results to show for years and years and years of this stuff, ever. He used to be well thought of, hereabouts, until some of his very own craven postings. If this imprsses you ... each to his own. Until he acutally gets something accomplished, most of us will just yawn, at his crazy press releases.

"You might want to mark this quote for future reference because you will probably learn the 'rest of the story' about JW sooner than later - newbie."

I have done my homework regarding Judicial Watch and its founder, Larry Klayman. The more I learn, the more I like this organization and its figurehead. :) As for the newbie comment, I am not a little kid.

Why do I have this nagging feeling that this was disclosed before ? This sounds like some old crap rehashed a bit for new contributions.

Hey Larry, whats wrong ? Aren't the RATS as generous as the GOP or did they catch on faster ?

Many Freepers turned against Larry Klayman at a time when he needed their help and support the most. It is not his fault that many of their cases are stalled, with the amount of cooperation they are getting from the Bush Administration and current Justice Department, I do not blame them. The wheels of Justice oftentimes turn very slowly and only consistent vigilance to the truth and trust in God will help us win the difficult and trying battle against government corruption.

You can think whatever you want about me. But please debate the issue at hand rather than throw around personal attacks. Your experience on this thread will probably be a lot more enjoyable.

Me too. Sounds like Larry's found another $ucker. As I keep saying, Klayman couldn't sue his way out of a wet paper bag.

Convient isn't it ? How would you like to hire a lawyer that keeps knowingly fighting losing battles ? At some point its a bit obvious that its for the fee. I might respect him more if he spent less on full page adds in the Washington Times and more on legal.

My husband and I sent him about $50 several years ago. After that we received more junk mail from them then I've ever seen. We both hate ourselves for contributing to this man. You may be right, the dem types caught on sooner then us repuplican types.

"Well,if it was supposed to be kept quite, who leaked it ? Why do we all know about it ? Though I suspect that many newbies here, don't know about it at all."

The lawsuit you are referring to was intended to be kept private, in matter of speaking. Larry kept his name off the title of the lawsuit by filing it under the auspices of another name, Accounts Inc. After Newsweek Magazine ran a polemic piece about this lawsuit for the sole purpose of trying to smear Larry's reputation, Judicial Watch then ran a press release stating the facts of the case, as to not let Judicial Watch detractors and smearers get another final word in otherwise, or gossip about Judicial Watch wrongly

Years ago. His own posts, on here, didn't help him any. His going after President Bush, almost as soon as he was elected, was the final nail in the coffi, for some. Others, long ago realized that al he does is talk and beg for donantions, which go directly into his pockets, and produce exactly no, none, nada, zilch, bupkiss results.
