Clinton Daughter to Announce Wedding Engagement in June
San Francisco Examiner ^ | Week of April 4, 2002 | P.J. Corkery

Posted on 04/07/2002 11:26:22 AM PDT by codebreaker

Daddy Bill Clinton took his daughter and her beau, the pride of Belvedere Ca., Ian Klaus, around the new Tate Modern Art Gallery in London last week.

Says a conviently placed Londoner to a London paper, 'President Clinton seemed comfortable with Ian and glad that his daughter found a decent man.'

The trio toured the galleries with the rest of the public, but with a security detail of 12

Bubba bought drinks for the young couple.

Chelsea and Ian, who met at a rally of students at Oxford post-9/11, are expected to announce their engagement by June

In case you are wondering, Klaus's parents, the eminent and respectable Robin and Patricia of Belvedere, are both longtime Democrats.

Just so we are all up to snuff on this, here is your first reading assignment:

Engagement Parties

The parents of the bride-to-be usually gives an engagement party just before the newspaper announcement is made. This is to inform those closest to the couple, the relatives and friends of both the bride and the groom, of the engagement and give everyone a chance to meet and congratulate the prospective new members of their families. (How many close, personal friends do you think will get invited? I bet over 1000.)

Anyone, however, may host pre-wedding parties in honor of the couple. (Horrors! An unending stream of party/fundraisers!) Unless the couple is throwing the party for themselves, they should remember that they are the guests of honor and take no active part in planning or hosting the parties. (As if they would get one word to say, anyway.) They have no say over the arrangements (Cash and prizes alert!!!)and they have the sole duty of attending and being good guests. They send a written thank you note to the host and hostess, even if the party is hosted by the parents, and they send written thank you notes for any gifts received. (And I am certain Terry McAuliffe is sending suitable dollar amounts right now.

Gifts are not usually given at an engagement party (Ha!), but some people may still provide a gift for the couple.

A toast to the couple often serves the purpose of the formal announcement of the engagement. It is usually proposed by the father of the bride-to-be. (This will be a long, long, long toast!) Your fiancé can then return a toast to you and your family. Then everyone can join in wishing you well.

It figures that Johnny Jihad and Ian's parents come from the same area.

Should be a real hoot hearing what they have to say about the impending nuptials..

I am going to dog them every inch of the way. Any woman who wears a PANTSUIT to visit the Queen of England as First Lady of the United States will NOT know how to throw a proper wedding!

Actually I think that knee pads for the ladies and a copy of the Whitewater data for the guys.

I understand the ChiComs will pay for the wedding and will send over 1,000,000 soldiers, er volunteers to help in setting up the revolution er wedding.

Arafatty and his bride will sing Old Palistinian Suicide Bomber songs for the music.

People that I think will be invited in order to get maximum publicity:

Madonna
Russell Crowe
Rosie O'Donnell and "friend"
Peter Jennings
Julia Roberts
Barbra Streisand (not invited to reception...ha!)
Rudy Guiliani (hope he's on an overseas trip)
Gray Davis (need those California votes)
Paul McCartney
Duchess of York
Oprah Winfrey

Care to add to the guest list? I think I am spot on.

You are good, you know that?

Yes, I saw about the ultra rich ultra leftist parents of the groom to be. Future governor of California and / or Senator(s) no doubt.

Well - let them enjoy the fun while they can. One day when the world finds out all the crimes of their Mafia Don parents - there will be time only for hiding in shame and disgrace. I know this does not seem likely - but it is. Truth will win out - one day.

The proper attire for a wedding freep is that which is worn to the wedding. In other words, if as a guest you would wear a coat and tie, then the same for a wedding freep.

Hats are required for lady freepers.

We must dress up for this occasion, demonstrating our superior taste and decorum. No freeping at the bride and groom, but the same courtesy will not be extended to the rest of the wedding party nor the guests.

"Geez dude, that may be a little over the top."

What? You don't think Chelsea would look fetching in something like this?

                        Or Ian in this?
