Good reading and a plausible theory but Ayn Rand said it better and about 50 years ago. She had the advantage of being a Jewess, an American( by choice ), and a Capitalist.

Grand post. Unfortunately, I see some of that attitude here - with cries against "corporatism" and "soulless capitalism".

Fifth, they hate liberty, the freedom extended even to mediocre people

Needs to be repeated...and I have no use for freedom haters.

Good article.

But what most of these idiots don't have the brains to realize is that the bourgeois are efficient (at all kinds of things). When pushed into it, they are far more efficient at violence than the romantic bourgeoisophobes obsessed with a cult of violence.

But, capitalism is soulless. It's merely the economic equivalent of science. Neither has anything necessarily to do with morality. Scientific and capitalistic methods are tools, and can be used for either good or evil.

Of course, both capitalism and science require a generous dose of liberty to function, so there are inherent limits on the evil to which they can descend.

We may be money-grubbin fools, but we feed the world. How many sheet-heads would be starvin' if it wasn't for our success? Have you ever bought anything with a "made in saudi arabia" label on it? The moslem world doesn't even produce enough food to feed one-tenth of its population. They, followed closely by the euro-weenies, may have a great culture, but that and fifty cents still won't buy you a cup of coffee.

I do very well without their culture. Been to europe, once was enough.

Another thing that the bourgeoisophobes don't realize is that they are strictly consumers: The do not produce anything tangible. Sure, they will sit around thinking, theorizing, maybe coming up with a bit of music, but they believe that real work is beneath them. They're the ones' with manual labor jobs, knowing that they deserve better. Of course, they're employed by the bourgeoise that they envy, and therefore despise. They know that they're "better" than their employers, and deserve more than they're getting paid, while the employers get rich off the sweat of their collective brows.

Of course, both capitalism and science require a generous dose of liberty to function, so there are inherent limits on the evil to which they can descend.

Capitalism also requires a basic common-law: a set of basic, though frequently undetailed, rules. It also does better with "seeding", which by the uncynical, can be viewed as "charity"; and in its basic form is service to others.

Yeah! What HE said!!

First, they hate the city. Cities stand for commerce, mixed populations, artistic freedom, and sexual license. Second, they hate the mass media: advertising, television, pop music, and videos. Third, they hate science and technology--the progress of technical reason, mechanical efficiency, and material know-how. Fourth, they hate prudence, the desire to live safely rather than court death and heroically flirt with violence.

Boy bin Laden and al Queda must really be hating themselves about now.
1)Hating cities: His money helped BUILD many of the cities in Saudi Arabia, and if I'm not mistaken, al Queda spent a lot of time in Kabul and Kandahar, not what you'd call backwater towns.
2) Hating mass media: He has used the mass media to get his message across the world
3)Hating technology: Bin Laden and al Queda have been trying desperately to get their hands on nuclear materials in order to make a bonb. I guess they like to pick and choose the technology they are going to hate!
4)Hating prudence and flirting with violence: As far as heroically flirting with violence, I haven't seen bin Laden or any of the high muckety mucks of al Queda out there on the front lines. They seem to be happy as clams hiding in their caves and safe houses.
Numbers 5 and 6 are spot on. I guess 2 out of 6 ain't bad.
