The CROSSFIRE is it a Bust?
CNN | 1 April 2002 | John Paul Jones

Posted on 04/01/2002 3:23:02 PM PST by JohnPaulJones

Food for thought! While surfing the tube tonight I stop and watched 5 minutes of the new Crossfire with Tucker and the old Clinton Clan "Carville and crew" interviewing little Tommy....Of what I saw this show is bound to bust and again CNN goes down...Any thoughts?

Hannity, on his radio show, said that Bill Press will be a guest on Hannity and Dipstick. I think I heard Sean mention that Bill is out of work. Could be breaking news...

Millions of Americans just watched Novak and Carlson get eviscerated on national television.

In the first place, Americans don't watch 'Crossfire'. If you think 'Crossfire' viewers number in the 'millions'; you are delusional, at best.

Personally, I can't stand listening to Carville or Begala more than 5 minutes at a time.

Millions of Americans just watched Novak and

No they didn't.

That is the reason for the change. Cross fire has had way less than a million TV Sets tuned to them in recent months.

They put Carville and Begala on to try to pull some audience. They have lost half their audience in the last year alone and it is still going down at a rapid rate.

Less than One percent of the people watch Cross fire.

Rush Limbaugh's show reaches almost 10 times as many people as CNN.

They will soon be coming in behind the History Channel.

I can't understand how DEMs would not be embarrassed by Carville and Begala --
two people with less class than the Clintons -- and that's pretty bad.

I work in a store in a mall, and every time I walk past the bookstore with their book
on display in front, I turn it over.  The mall security guards and office personnel love it!

I can't help myself -- I detest mean people.

"Millions of Americans"? It's ranked at the bottom of its time period, beaten by C.Matthews and Shepard Smith. No one takes those two idiots (the Carville/Begala team) seriously; they are only good for entertainment.

You mean like thousands watched two bald ugly democrats act like the donkey rears that they are?

Of course, whenever James Carville and Paul Begala put their heads together, they make an ass out of themselves...

Well I must say you do have endurance
It is about 10 millisec between the time either of their faces show up on any show and my remote gets pushed

As time goes by however, I can no longer stomach these argumentative formats.

I told my wife last Friday that O'reilly was popular for that reason.Bill does get in their space a little much but there is none of that communal ranting.

No need to disinfect - I was at a pretty good distance. Again, he was next to the dugout, I was club level, right below the luxury boxes. I'm at the same level at Skip Carey and Pete Van Weiren. Close to where Ted was at, but not too close for comfort. ;-)

I thought Crossfire was awful with Bill Press, now it is totally unwatchable. I predict within 3 months CNN will announce it is "retooling" the show. I will spend that hour surfing the 'net for my news. They lost this viewer.

I remember watching Crossfire and Buckley on a 12" round TV screen as a kid. The good ole days!!!

No, you watched Firing Line, not Crossfire. A world of difference. Buckley and his guest debated (as opposed to sceaming at each other). Almost always, the conversation was civil, no matter how looney Buckley's guest was (and he did have, upon occasion, some radical lefties. Positions were outlined by both sides, using not only complete sentences, but whole paragraphs.

The "sound bite" format of today seems to assume that audiences have the attention span of gnats; and the confrontational and interruptive styles which seem to be encouraged of late must be aimed at a younger generation than mine. I don't waste my time with the screaming face shows anymore.

That would be Tom Braden? the man whose wife was 'dating' Robert McNamara.

LOL..........right! And he wrote the book that the TV show was based on......I cannot think of the name of it now...but it had all those kids!
