Hizbollah fires Katyusha rocket into Israel

    JERUSALEM, April 2 (Reuters) - Iranian-backed Hizbollah
guerrillas fired a Katyusha rocket into Israel from Lebanon
early on Tuesday, Israeli security sources said.
The sources said at least one 107mm Katyusha struck Israel's
Upper Galilee region. There were no immediate reports of
casualties. There was no immediate comment from Israeli army.
There is concern in Israel that the Lebanese Hizbollah
guerrillas may be trying to open a second front with Israel as
the Jewish state conducts a military campaign in the Palestinian
territories in a bid to halt a spate of suicide bombings.
It was the first reported Katyusha strike by Hizbollah
guerrillas on Israeli territory since the Israeli army withdrew
from Lebanon in May 2000, ending a 22-year-long occupation.
Hizbollah on Saturday fired anti-tank rockets and grenades
at Israeli military positions along the border. Israeli war
planes hit Hizbollah targets in retaliation.

DUH! What genius figured that out?

So what are they going to do about it? It's bad enough we forced them out of Lebanon in 1982 before they could finish the job. Then they pulled out in 2000, leaving the entire country open to its Syrian rapists.

What happened to the F16's and Apaches that the Israelis used in the "territories"? Get to work, boys!

I'll tell you what. If Israel is in the market for an overweight 40 year-old catholic, who just happens to be a crack shot with a rifle.....then sign me up!

This is funny! Irael "concerned" with a second "front"? Hizbollah's about to get the $#!+ knocked out of them. There is NOTHING to stop Israel now from attacking Lebanon as there was in the past. No need for "keeping the peace" with their neighbor.

Not sure firing a rocket is such a good thing right now. Israel has just opened a can of whoop ass. They have an entire warehouse of the stuff and aren't afraid to use it.

Regrettably, I feel this statement to be bang on.

Arafat is cornered, and with him are (supposedly) several high ranking terrorism directors, if not some of the most dangerous terrorists themselves. I've come to believe that Israel's strategy is to expose these associations to the world, either by taking the whole lot of them into custody or killing everyone but Arafat and holding the facts up to the world. My opinion only, I admit.

The danger here is that if these interlopers are exposed the Israelis will be able to tie them to foreign governments, a motivation that may encourage those others to "cloud the waters" by expanding the conflict. The threats we are seeing may, and I empahsise only may, be behind any aggressive statements or actions we see over the next few days. This situation is volatile, to say the least.

If any other Arab country were to attack Israel, the fog of war could get very thick. Israel virtually certainly has the ability to defeat any attack, but the cost could be horrific. For an enemy, however, especially with something to hide, the risk of starting a larger conflict could be interpreted as a way to change the world's subject from international terrorism to "Israeli oppression." I personally wouldn't take this tack if I were them but there's no shortage of examples where Arab rulers made unwise decisions.

I hope I'm wrong, but I see an escalation coming that none of really want. Just MHO.

If you are physically and mentally healthy, and can get yourself to Israel, they will very likely take you. Many an American Christian has been accepted on such a basis.

I think a freeper called Michael2001 is one of them.

At age 40, previous military experience might be needed though.

This probably means that Israel will start using counter battery radars along the border...and when they pin point the origin of a rocket, they will likely respond with nice three missile salvo of their own...

one 107mm Katyusha

The barrage was preparatory to a general assault by a lone Saracen armored unit on horseback and wielding a long, curved sword. Residents tried to avoid tripping the horse, since putting the unit back on the horse is more trouble than it is worth.

It's not just Iran and Lebanon in this picture, folks. Syria has a foothold in Lebanon. They will be a might concerned over what response there may be from Israel.

Great observation!

I agree that Arabs have never had a more opportune time to "turn" the world against Israel. I doubt if the general public truly realizes the volatility of the current situation.
