U.S. Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh returned to federal court on April 1, 2002 as his lawyers battled with government prosecutors over what kind of evidence can be used in his conspiracy trial. This picture, released by Lindh's lawyers on April 1, 2002 as part of the evidence, was taken by the US government when Lindh was at Camp Rhino in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in December 2001. Not any American I know, conservative OR liberal; perhaps you should take a good look at the people you hang out with.
As for you, you're just a little to smooth for my tastes; I've read some of your other posts. You appear too cool for us, until you read between the lines and detect the condescending attitude.
Anybody who defends Justin Rameriz is NO friend of the vast majority of people on this forum.
And as for this statement:
Is it not possible for a conservative libertarian type to oppose the circus of malevolent jingoism surrounding Johnny "SCAPEGOAT" Walker?
the answer is a resounding NO. If you consider the truth about this boy to be malevolent jingoism perhaps you might want to move along to another web site; around here we take this country pretty seriously, and we do not take kindly to those who offer up excuses for treasonous acts against this country. Perhaps your next argument will be that the "boy" was confused because his father is a homosexual. Quite the contrary, all the articles I've seen, even from his OWN COUSIN, say he was a DIEHARD convert and a gungho fighter for the cause in which he believed. If you happen to believe the destruction of this country and the life we live is golly gee fine, that's YOUR problem. This kid is a traitor.
Now, if you and your ilk do agree that the bombing of the Cole and the WTC will "teach this nasty old country a lesson," that's your problem, but don't come around here trying to present yourself as some reasoned "thoughtful" person arriving to set us straight or expect to go unchallenged.
Above all, conservatives believe that a person is responsible for his actions; if you believe that lawyers and mommie and daddy fishing around for any defense - trial ballons, if you will -- as a way for this boy to get away with this crime is "the Amreican way" and "sporting," perhaps you don't have the qualities it takes to even understand what this country is about.
I suspect you're a disruptor or, more than likely, some student at a liberal college and this is all very amusing to you.
Get back to me when you appreciate what freedom actually means -- sometime after you get a paying job.
This IS your post, is it not?

Hey, reprobate.
Don't forget to remind all the fascists that our rights are self-evident and inalienable. I love all the "patriots" who seem eager to point out that our constitution "grants" these rights.
LOL!
"Ummm.... State? Will you grant me some rights? I could use some... I promise not to call you bad names!" - voice of the sheeple
We have many military retired and active, law enforcement retired and active, and firefighters...who put their lives everyday on the line for this country...
Just thought I'd clarify the positions of many on FR...

Excellent "Essay of the Week" material!
There used to be a FReeper called "Consistant Libertarian" that had the same style. No current by that name now. Must be a lost twin.
I don't think I ever expected to go unchallenged!
But I do resent the low blow about "my ilk."
I saw that picture of Mike Spann on the thread. I know what that means to people. I am more than capable of understanding his heroism and the heroism of his family and distinguishing it from Johny's traitorous and pathetic crusade. I do not wish to dishonor the memories of the people who have laid down their lives so that we can have America. I have no further desire to argue. Jihad-boy was certainly a traitor by the most common meaning of the word, but I think the point in which you and I differ is whether or not he was a dangerous or evil person. I do not feel I have enough evidence to conclude the latter.
2) If it is him, it definitely looks like the bands have been digitally added.*
*Call me picky but the source for this is Lindh's atty.
