This new format is much easier to use. I really like it.

It would really be neat if FR kept track of donations and listed them next to people's screen names. 10-to-1 that most of the complainers have never donated a penny.
Stop whining -- you sound like a damn liberal.

"It stinks!!!! I've had to log in THREE TIMES in the past hour, it doesn't remember me."
You aren't taking the hint. It does remember you and keeps throwing you out. ;-)

I'm tending toward the "like it" set, too. Took some getting used to in the wee hours this morning (dozed off with the old FR, awakened, hit refresh, and found the new!), but now I'm quite pleased with it. Most of the comments I've read regard the need to set up the sidebars, but that's pretty easy to do. JohnRob, it's a job well-done, and JimRob, thanks for everything, as always!

I do NOT like it because threads presented vertically take up too much vertical space. I can only see three threads with new format, whereas on old format, several thread headlines were on screen at same time, which made surfing speedier.
This new format is asking to much of me.

The format is flashy and very attractive -- and a complete pain in the posterior to use. I have already decreased my visits to this site for breaking news, since I can't figure out how to get it even following the directions. I have my own website and people always say how easy it is to navigate. Clearly the person who did the FR one is VERY talented...but making things more difficult on a website is an unwise idea. As of today, this website is not an easy one to navigate. If FR can keep the new look and make it a bit easier to get breaking news, etc. they'll have the best of both worlds. If they say "this is the way it's going to be" then that is the way it is going to be...and they are also going to lose some people who visit.

I have seen many changes to this great forum.
I am learning this current version and so far I like several items.
What I don't like are all the people who are learning challenged who refuse to learn or try. For Pete's sake it's not even 24 hours.

Stop whining -- you sound like a damn liberal. And your whining about others whining about the latest changes sounds like what, a personal attack? lol...

I agree davetex. The new format rocks.
Those who can't use it should spend a little time to "read the manual", i.e., follow the online directions. It's really not that hard...?

You said you like the new format. I agree with you. I think it is a masterpiece. Interesting comment. Please explain the benifit of the 1 1/2 inch distracting faded flag border that scrunches up the hard news text in between two borders now. That bit of "masterpiece" work escapes me totally....

Yeah, I agree..sorta. At first it had me all confused, and I still have a few issues with it. That said it looks like the features will be easier to use, especially to veteran FReepers who use it for research. That WAS one of the original goals of FR, to archive news so we could catch lies and such
But I think the new format is going to be really confusing to newbies. Having to "subscribe" to breaking news or whatever is your fav will probably cause a bunch of people to just give up and go away.
Overall though, with the exception of the graphic down the left side of the screen (I find that distracting and somewhat cliche, but still kinda neat) I think the new version will work out quite well.
Great job John and Jim! Thanks for your effort! We ALL owe you so much!

I have Breaking News, Religion, UFO's and Focus Software as my right sidebars. It took about 2 minutes to set them up. I can, at a glance, look at the areas I like. And I can skip all the chatter threads.

I've notice the new format as well!!! NEAT
To: davetex
I like it, a few tweaks here and there, but I like it.
Thanks to the Robinsons.
