JimRob, I like most of your changes to the forums, especially the increased user customization. However, I feel compelled to point out several problems that I and others have encountered.

#1. The width of the main post browsing area as been unnecessarily reduced, thereby increasing tedious scrolling.

#2. Only showing five posts in the topic sidebars is not enough.

#3. There also needs to be at least an option to to fix the position of the sidebars, instead of always bumping the one with the latest post to the top. In other words, Breaking News needs to stay on top.

#4. I don't mean to sound unpatriotic, but the American flag banner on the left of the screen is annoying. As the only graphic on the page, it constantly draws the reader's eye away from the main post browsing area.

How did you get to the breaking news sidebars?

I agree with everything you said - especially the Breaking News being below. I wonder if the flag is making reloads slower - it appears to be slightly slower when refreshing.

I am noticing a slower page load. I hope it will turn out to be a temporary phenomenon which will be eliminated as the new format is tweaked.

Go to Topics at the top of the screen and click. Scroll down to breaking news and click on it. When breaking news comes up, look to the left side bar and there's an area that says you haven't subscribed to this - if you want to subscribe Click Here (or something like that). Then Breaking News will start appearing in your right side bar. You can do the same for other topics, but they last one you do will be the one on top.

Nope the last topic posted to in the forum when you hit refresh will be on top. They change but at some point John may lock them into place...... so you can order them as you prefer

I DO LIKE the ability to select our own Time Zone so we don't have to add/deduct hours on posts.

That's not new; I've had mine on Central time for months! But! I do like it! ;-}

You can do the same for other topics, but they last one you do will be the one on top.

Actually, they seem to rotate to the top as a new item is posted to that particular topic. I had 'BREAKING NEWS' at the TOP of my sidebar, but when an item was posted to 'FRONT PAGE NEWS', that topic jumped to the top of my sidebar. A little later, an item got posted to 'BREAKING NEWS', and that topic jumped back to the top of my sidebar. Interesting...has anyone else noticed same?
