I am afraid that Hollywood and the movies they produce are a big part of our problem with the world. They no longer produce the movies that display American values, American honor. Instead they cheapen our image all over the world with dwelling on the underbelly of society. (ClancyJ) --------------
I agree with you. I am a Dutchmaen and live in the Netherlands. Here people see Americans as it is displayed in the movies. And I do not mean the way John Wayne like people. But in negative ways.
A lot of Europeans think Americans are only superficial people with no morality. Strangly it is my people who seem to have got no sence of moral, legalizing drugs, prostitution and crime. Here crime pays.
On 9/11 I saw how America really is: a caring and wonderful nation. The people cheering the rescue workers, the flowers, flags and messages displayed everywhere. Instead of killing of all Afghans (like the left media made us believe here) we liberated them and gave them support to build a new nation.
I may never have been to the USA, but in my heart I am proud to be on your side. (knighthawk)
I can't tell you how wonderful your comment made me feel. I had to ping some others who would be interested in your comments. Thank you for seeing the real America instead of believing all the anti-American rhetoric. This is one reason we love President Bush so much, he represents the heartland of America - the real people. Not the glamour of Hollywood or the backbiting power of Washington but the working American with family values.

Would you go to a movie about wonderful, caring, loving hard workers? Me neither.LOL. I like the thriller movie best but have you ever seen "Grapes of Wrath"? That is my husband's all time favorite movie but I can't watch it anymore. The mother character and the hardships those kind hardworking people endured just break my heart. I loved the gentle, kind, honest spirit of the characters as they tried to understand their hardships and tried to find a better life in California.

Thank you ClancyJ for the ping. It is good to know that we are making strides in turning the world's view of America. I know knighthawk is just one poster but I'm sure he speaks for many without a voice or access to be heard.
America is being restored to her purpose.

Oh, yes. The uneditted version, anyway. Know what I mean, nudge nudge, say no more?

Thanks for the heads up!

Gosford Park was written by a conservative? Wow! I might have to break my longstanding boycott of Robert Altman's films (less to do with politics, more because they suck) and rent this one.

Thanks for the kind remark. It really means a lot to me, as I am a Dutchman who loves the USA more than anything else.

And thanks to you too! (see the previous post)

btw The national post is one of two national newspapers in Canada.Mark Steyn works for the Daily Telegraph owned by Conrad Black who started the National post.Conrad Black renounced his Canadian Citizenship after a fight with the Prime Minister of Canada.
If you visit North America you should visit Canada. Then you can see a country becoming less American (capitalist)and more European (socialist).

Hmmm? With the software/format, I cannot seem to figure out how to find "from" or "to" posts. I.E., if I wanted to look up articles that I have recently posted, I used to be able to go to "latest articles" and in the search box key in from: "MeeknMing", hit the "go" button and they'd come up. Dumb question, "How do I do that now?"
To: TADSLOS
Fairy dust--how appropriate! The fairies and their supporters rule in Hollyweird. They spread their socialist ideas and advertise their evil, immoral and violent ideas by any means possible. The movies and TV are their main methods used to disseminate their tripe.

Yeah, that's what prompted me to get of your ping list; I did a self-search and was blown away by the amount of listings....
