It is the ultimate Campaign reform - what the Dims are complaining about is the fact that more people give to Republican candidates/parties than they do the dims. This is nothing but an attempt to hamstring conservatives. If the press was decidedly to the right instead of to the liberal left - the dims would be screaming like mad. I know W stated he would sign CFR - mainly in an effort to get Senators off their butts and grow a spine.
Sorta like saying "If you can't prevent them from getting raped, I'm not going to either."

Memo to President Bush:
In addition to CFR being a violation of your principled letter to Senator Lott in March 2001, this statement by Senator McConnell provides specifics on winners and losers. Winners are the usual suspects: Incumbents, big liberal media, and labor unions. Losers are individuals who organize to inform others of the truth about incumbent's actions, and citizens everywhere who are losing their First Amendment right to free speech.
I sent my objection to this turkey legislation last week, shortly before the President announced through his press office that he would sign this. One question: With an 80% approval rating, why would he deliberately sign fatally flawed and unconstitutional legislation??

Did you see the article (I can't remember who wrote it, but I think it was posted on Slate) that said that Clinton would be the biggest winner with the CFR bill? It said that the bill would set Clinton up as the biggest power broker in politics.

I watched his speech on the Senate Floor, and immediately sent him an e-mail thanking him afterwards.

Thanks for the article. I'm trying to stay calm about this whole mess. I think if President Bush were to veto this the media would harm him with ties to Enron as the President who is trying to hide something. I still trust President Bush and I think he is doing what he feels is the best way to handle this situation.

The only thing the First Amendment Reformers are right about is that it is, in fact, about money and power. THEIR money. THEIR power.

Signing this into law is condemning countless American lives to jail by public disobedience. Way to go Bush.

UNDER PENALTY OF THE CFR LAW
Thank God for reasonable men of honor, character and Constitutional Champions like the good Senator Mitch McConnell. I'm going to ride that tiger with you all the way to the Supreme Court and happily hear the man with the gold stripes on the sleeves of his judicial robes rip CFR asunder.
