Mr Simmons,
This is to advise you about a push poll that was directed to me last night about 9pm in East Hampton. After establishing I was a likely voter, the oldest male and was a republican I was asked who I would vote for. After telling them the republican candidate most likely (because I don't know you because of redistricting) I was asked a series of questions which included (not exact wording) :
1. Simmons voted for 450 million in retro active tax benefits for Enron.
2. Simmons voted against school building.
3. Simmons voted against allowing us to sure HMO's and taking away benefits from elderly.
He then asked me would I still vote for Simmons. I told him his questions were based on flawed premises and that this was a push poll. I was surprised that he didn't tell me Simmons was an ax murderer but yes I will still vote for the ax murderer.
The contact person I was given for this poll is Amy Collier, 215-641-2200 ext 2247. I left her a message telling her the polling company was lower scum than Clinton.
I am angry about this call and am willing to offer whatever assistance I can to you in the upcoming election in East Hampton, please let me know what I can do to help.
Ray
Work for your candidate (if conservatives become more involved with his campaign, and he's not a big commie lib like Jeffords, then we will have more say in his votes down the road even though he's not hardcore)
Write a letter to the editor. Write several. If you're a good writer, or have a small paper (or several small papers), write an op-ed about the push poll. Do a little research and don't rave, but lay out your argument so any "reasonable" person will see that it's ridiculous.
Vote, and get involved in GOTV.
It appears that the democrats have begun early, and in full swing. Usually the strategy is to firm up your base, then go after the unaffiliated voters and then go after the opponent's base.
It is apparent that they intend to target Simmons this election, meaning that the democrats intend to pump a lot of money into that particular contest. Simmons is not a conservative, but the alternate choice is worse. Yeah, its war.
Exactly. This game of we-need-the-pubs-to-control-the-house crap is simply a smokescreen designed so that those who may have some political insight are deluded into thinking there are parties and choices.
How do you know its a push poll and not the candidate's campaign trying to figure out the likely attacks he's going to hear from the democrats? You have to know your own weaknesses before you can defend them. Don't be so hysterical. It's way too early for push polls.
Thanks, you gave me a good idea. I am going to see if I can get the exact questions and make a joint project with my 15 year old daughter. She loves to write persuasively and a rebuttle coming from a 15 year old would be quite compelling to the average person. Especially if its possible to play off the nasty tactics being used the day after reform was passed.
ModernDayCato already is campaigning for Hillary. With that attitude, you might as well consider him her houseboy. Pathetic libertine.
Take a look around our wonderful state...We have the highest per capita taxes in the U.S., and 'regional taxation' is being bantered about in Hartford by our local profiles in courage who know they can't keep providing more services without more taxes and want the few towns with fiscal responsibility to pick up the slack.
I've taken my shots. I've given (a lot of) money to challengers that I would not have ordinarily voted for just because they had an R after their names. I've gone to meetings and listened to so-called 'Republicans' complain that they had just moved here from New York or New Jersey and the taxes here are 'too low.'
I've listened to people on this board say that it's more important to have a Republican majority so that we can move slower toward socialism instead of at full speed.
It's clear to me that we have created a ruling class in our federal and state governments. They are unaccountable and do not care a whit about their constituency.
Our generation (Baby Boomers) are spoiled and self centered. They don't understand or care about liberty, and want the government to take care of them just like their parents have all of their lives.
There is a stirring among the electorate, and they're plugging the last few holes with abominations like CFR.
I didn't sponge off my parents my entire life. I went out and started a business. I worked and sacrificed and made it successful. People like Simmons and Shays confiscated some of the wealth I created and gave it to people who not only did not earn it, but probably are anti-business.
I'm getting bored, and I'm thinking of starting another business. My marginal tax rate (the amount of taxes I would pay on an additional dollar of income) is almost 50%. Why should I work and sacrifice again so that the idiots in government can take 50% for things like chauffered cars and their own dining rooms and chefs? I'm sure that conundrum is repeated ad nauseum across the country.
You want to fight? Go get 'em. The day Bush signs CFR I'm going to scrape the Bush bumper stickers off my truck and drive to my town hall to change my party affiliation to unaffiliated.
Good luck in your battles.
Because there was an only one sided structure to all of the questions. I even had the caller laughing about the one-sideness.
Current strategy sucks as well. Look at what we have. A corrupt house and senate, a globalist president, none of whom are representing the will of the American people, but giving free rein to whoever has the most dough. Wake up and stop this nonsense about the most or less liberal...they're all in bed togther with the exception of, maybe, Ron Paul.
That's great to hear. Neither am I. What's the plan and who's the general?
I never expected to find a more ignorant poster than Cato on this thread. Then Max showed up.
I think he's talking about you as well.
Well DUH. That's the point. They test a small sample and figure out using the worse case scenerio where he is weak. Fortunately its a large enough sample so your futile efforts wont have an effect in the final report. The most assine thing you can do is go off half cocked without knowing the facts. Have you ever thought about CONTACTING Simmon's office to find out what they know?
We are part of NORTH AMERICA. NORTH AMERICA is composed of MORE than one country. It's a regional collection of countries. Does it bother you to hear the President speak in spanish, amigo?
