USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

I have to tell you that SpookBrat is a wonderful friend and mother. She is fun, friendly, easy to be with, kind, and a WONDERFUL mother (which by the way I think is the toughest job in the world, but she is AMAZING!) We tasted and voted on our favorite beans (some we threw away - YUCK). We went in one of the Antique stores, she will have to come back there are lots more. We looked at all of the crafts. Her little boy made a bottle with different colored sand. We talked and talked and talked - just ask kneezles *giggle*. She is a wonderful friend!

I'm working on getting some pictures downloaded. :)

Burning Bridges

Friends all tried to warn me
But I held my head up high
All the time they warned me
But I only passed them by
They all tried to tell me
But I guess I didn't care
I turned my back and
Left them standing there

All the burning bridges that have fallen after me
All the lonely feelings and the burning memories
Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door
Burning bridges lost forevermore

Joey tried to help me find a job
A while ago
When I finally got it I didn't want to go
The party Mary gave for me
When I just walked away
Now there's nothing left to say

All the burning bridges that have fallen after me
All the lonely feelings and the burning memories
Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door
Burning bridges lost forevermore

Years have passed and I keep thinking
What a fool I've been
I look back into the past and
Think of way back then
I know that I lost everything I thought I that could win
I guess I should have listened to my friends

All the burning bridges that have fallen after me
All the lonely feelings and the burning memories
Everyone I left behind each time I closed the door
Burning bridges lost forevermore
Burning bridges lost forevermore

One of my favorite Movie themes.

You are so sweet. :) I had so much fun. I honestly hated to leave. Sniff.....I'm sitting here trying to figure out when we can get together again. There is a good restaurant in Ft. Worth called "Celebrations". Maybe we can meet there.

My little bear just loved kneezles. I'm so glad he got to spend some time with a "man". Makes me sad in a way, because I'm sure he is missing his daddy being around. It was very good for him to be around a father figure today. (Sniff...I can't take much more of this. I miss him too).

I need to go make sure dinner isn't burning, although I am NOT hungry. Do you think that bank will give us the recipe for their beans? LOL

Thank you, Snow Bunny!

Here is something from my brother that everyone here should appreciate..........

Awesome Poem

A drunk man in an Oldsmobile
they said had run the light
that caused the six-car pileup
on 109 that night.

When broken bodies lay about
and blood was everywhere,
the sirens screamed out eulogies,
for death was in the air.

A mother, trapped inside her car,
was heard above the noise;
her plaintive plea near split the air:
"Oh, God, please spare my boys!"

She fought to loose her pinioned hands;
she struggled to get free,
but mangled metal held her fast
in grim captivity.

Her frightened eyes then focused on where the
back seat once had been,
but all she saw was broken glass and
two children's seats crushed in.

Her twins were nowhere to be seen;
she did not hear them cry,
and then she prayed they'd been thrown free,
"Oh, God, don't let them die!"

Then firemen came and cut her loose,
but when they searched the back,
they found therein no little boys,
but the seat belts were intact.

They thought the woman had gone mad
and was traveling alone,
but when they turned to question her,
they discovered she was gone.

Policemen saw her running wild
and screaming above the noise
in beseeching supplication,
"Please help me find my boys!

They're four years old and wear blue shirts; their
jeans are blue to match."
One cop spoke up, "They're in my car,
and they don't have a scratch.

They said their daddy put them there
and gave them each a cone,
then told them both to wait for Mom
to come and take them home.

I've searched the area high and low,
but I can't find their dad.
He must have fled the scene,
I guess, and that is very bad."

The mother hugged the twins and said,
while wiping at a tear,
"He could not flee the scene, you see,
for he's been dead a year."

The cop just looked confused and asked,
"Now, how can that be true?"
The boys said, "Mommy, Daddy came
and left a kiss for you.

He told us not to worry
and that you would be all right,
and then he put us in this car with
the pretty, flashing light.

We wanted him to stay with us,
because we miss him so,
but Mommy, he just hugged us tight
and said he had to go.

He said someday we'd understand
and told us not to fuss,
and he said to tell you, Mommy,
he's watching over us."

The mother knew without a doubt
that what they spoke was true,
for she recalled their dad's last words,
"I will watch over you."

The firemen's notes could not explain
the twisted, mangled car,
and how the three of them escaped
without a single scar.

But on the cop's report was scribed,
in print so very fine,
An angel walked the beat tonight
on Highway 109.

Did you guys take a picture of the pooch in the pouch? Put it up if you did. I wanna see it. That was sooooo cute.

There are so many posts from early in the day that deserve a response. I'll have to see how the night goes. I'll try to come back. My girl isn't feeling too well and needs her mommy.
