Suicide Bomber Strikes at Checkpoint
Suicide Bomber Blows Himself Up at Israeli Military Checkpoint in West Bank, Wounding Two

The Associated Press

J E R U S A L E M, March 22

A suicide bomber blew himself up Friday at an Israeli military checkpoint in the West Bank, wounding two people, police said. One of the wounded was in serious condition.

The attack occurred just several miles from the frontier with Israel, including the town of Israeli town of Afula, which has frequently been hit by Palestinian suicide bombers in recent months. It was not immediately clear whether the explosives went off prematurely or the checkpoint was the intended target.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment, and there was no claim of responsibility.

The "cycle of violence" continues.

Palestinians blow themselves up and Israel just takes it.

Some cycle.

Another example of the cycle of violence...

Punching a guy in the face 4 times and the other guy not punching back.

There will be no peace. Arafat is not interested in a ceasefire. Zinni's mission is an exercise in futility--he's trying to negotiate with Arafat, a lying terrorist thug that leads terrorist organizations. When is the administration going to realize that? How many more Israelis have to be murdered before the light goes on over their heads?

At least they were able to spot him before he got into Israel. Probably heading for a crowded shopping mall. FRIDAY AFTERNOON and SATURDAY NIGHT are FLOURESCENT YELLOW ALERT DAYS!

As the holiday of Passover approaches, it may be time for the Israeli Air Force to "pass over" Palestine.

My guess, for what it is worth, is that this guy got caught before he had gotten to the place he wanted to blow up, so he took himself out rather than be made to talk by the Mossad!

I hope that Israel takes out the Palestinians before we are idiots enough to put our soldiers between then like that fool Friedman on the NY Times wants. Of course I don't think that this administration will do anything as stupid as that, much the contrary.

Even if the shadowy figures eluding us had stopped training new suicide bombers three days ago, it could still take weeks if not months until the supply of walking bombs is depleted. Yet as long as a perplexingly naive US and Israel insist on dealing with a helpless and clueless sergeant Arafat, the colonels will not cease to train, and the zombies will keep on coming.

Based on numerous other threads I have read on FR: Most of you cannot see the forest for the trees. The Palis are obviously the equivalent of a burnt sacrifice of devil worshipers disguised as Muslims.

Thank you, God, for not making me a Palestinian.

It is good to hear from a sane islamic voice, but I am not so optimistic as you are. I do not think that there is any signifigant group of Palestinians willing to live in peace with Israel. The only choices are perpetual war, or removal of one of the parties from the area, preferably by expulsion, rather than by the alternative.

When is US going to realize that by trying to appease to the Arabs to take on Iraq, Arab terrorists are increasing terror in Israel to protect Iraq from US coalition w/Arab states.
If US is to take on Iraq, don't wait for Zinni.

"Palestinians blow themselves up and Israel just takes it.

I'm just about done with the Israeli's whining about the "peace process", when they hold the power to just put a stop to this. If they choose to remain silent militarily in the face of this ongoing attack(s) then I will soon lose any respect for them, and let them lie in their own bed.

Time for the Israeli's to fish or cut bait.

I can understand your pessimism, but cannot agree with it. Better yet, I see yours as a means to a non-equitable pseudo end. I can't see how exiling the Palis will suddenly make things better.

The peace process was going well until Arafat, influenced by Tehran thought he could bargain for Jerusalem. This was followed by Sharon's "prickery" and here we are.

Both Arafat and Sharon are like dry flowers in a history book. Big mistake to work with them, as they can bring nothing new to the table.

Ha'aretz -- "An IDF officer was lightly injured when a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up at approximately 3 P.M. Friday, at a checkpoint north of the West Bank town of Jenin. The officer was taken to Haemek Hospital in Afula for treatment."
"The attack took place as the Israeli-Palestinian joint security committee was meeting in Tel Aviv with U.S. envoy Anthony Zinni."

I do not believe that most endings in history are equitable. There is a tendency to believe the opposite, because those who contemplate history at least still exist. Those nations that cease to exist do not have a citizenry contemplating history.

It may be that exile would not be a real ending, the alternative, referenced above, would be a real ending, and I pray to God we have not come to this point yet. I have become convinced though that the Palestinians would be only too happy to apply such a 'final solution' to the Israelis.
