The only choices are perpetual war, or removal of one of the parties from the area
I can understand your pessimism, but cannot agree with it. Better yet, I see yours as a means to a non-equitable pseudo end. I can't see how exiling the Palis will suddenly make things better.

The peace process was going well until Arafat, influenced by Tehran thought he could bargain for Jerusalem. This was followed by Sharon's "prickery" and here we are.

Both Arafat and Sharon are like dry flowers in a history book. Big mistake to work with them, as they can bring nothing new to the table.

I do not believe that most endings in history are equitable. There is a tendency to believe the opposite, because those who contemplate history at least still exist. Those nations that cease to exist do not have a citizenry contemplating history.

It may be that exile would not be a real ending, the alternative, referenced above, would be a real ending, and I pray to God we have not come to this point yet. I have become convinced though that the Palestinians would be only too happy to apply such a 'final solution' to the Israelis.

It won't. it will just transfer the problem. It won't solve it. What will solve it? I don't know. I know in the west, we are taught to respect all cultures and peoples. But there is a faction of fanatics who have hijacked Islam who don't want to co-exist with anyone. They want the death to Isreal, death to capitalism -- death, death, death. It's a pretty anti-humanist message. How do you deal with that? Negotiate with it? Why? They want you dead. Kill it? Can all be killed? -- probably not. Then the situation just festers until someone wiser than me can figure out a permanent answer.

there is no table, the middle east war never ended, and now israel has to fight or die. no one learned the lesson of history, when you fight a war, fight it and defeat your enemy completely or live to fight them again. there is another middle east war brewing, and i wouldn't want to be on the islamic side.
