I really hope that the President vetos this. If not, I think most Republicans will be so pissed at him, that he wont be able to win in 2004. I will vote Libertarian if he signs it.

I agree with you that I don't think he'll veto the bill and instead sign it. However I disagree with your reasoning that there are enough votes to over ride a veto .... You need 2/3rds in both houses... That means you need 7 more senators to vote to over ride... The House passed the legislation on a vote of 240-189. It takes 292 in the House if all 435 are voting in order to over ride. So that means another 52 Congress critters to vote for the over ride... Now do you think there are 52 Representatives and 7 Senators that will swap sides and vote to over ride? I don't.

Two Democrats - Breaux and Nelson voted against it. If all Republicans except for McCain voted against it, we wouldn't have this crisis today.

After reading Congressman Billy Bob's writing, it is all so clear what our great President Bush is going to do, isn't it? Who does Congressman Billy Bob mention is with President Bush? Attorney General John Ashcroft and the Solicitor General, Ted Olson. President Bush is going to instruct these two gentlemen to determine if the CFR Bill violates the Constitution, and that includes asking the Supreme Court before. Why else would they be there? That is the PERFECT way to handle it!

Just heard on NBC News that the President said he will sign it. Had to laugh--they're already talking about the loop holes and how this isn't going to take ANY money out of politics, only shift it to special interest groups. What a bunch of maroons!!!!

For all you Ohioans who have at times bashed DeWine for his "no on Anwar" and gun vote, note that he not only voted right on impeachment, but also on this. Give credit where credit is due. Voinovich, the same.

These guys went in with the reputations (certainly Voinovich) of RINOs, but I think all things considered they have voted pretty conservatively.

From your posted article:

"With the stroke of the president's pen, we will eliminate hundreds of millions of dollars of unregulated soft money that has caused Americans to question the integrity of their elected representatives," said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., whose dogged pursuit of the issue helped fuel his rise to national prominence."

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

What Johnny really said,

" With the stroke of the pen, it will be the law of the land..( McCainiac laugh..hehehehe..)....and we will eliminate hundreds of years of freedom of speech. Why, because we must. For the good of the country. Money is corrupt..and corrupts us..because we cannot help...er I mean we cannot let soft money rot our souls...er no, I mean soft money is evil."

said Johnny McCainmutiny RINO, AZ. who looked around the room..like he'd seen the ghost of Benedict Arnold.

This final Senate vote and passage is an outrage. Those provisions of this specific CFR legislation, that infringe on freedom of speech is the biggest black mark of all. Based on his political position, I don't have much faith that President Bush will veto it either. That leaves a battle in the courts, headed by Senator Mitch McConnell. In the end, I'm confident, the USSC will overturn those parts that directly infringe on our First Amendment rights.

the most sweeping changes to the nation's campaign finance system since the Watergate scandals...

I haven't heard G. Gordon Liddy talk about CFR much on his show. Gee - I wonder why?

Hey, don't forget that if libertarians hadn't spoiled two senatorial races, we'd get to have two more republican senators voting yes for CFR, instead of two democratic senators voting yes on CFR.

LOL, BWAhahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHA.
