Ted Maher -- former Special Forces; Neonatal Intensive Care nurse
American Green Beret veteran and accomplished neonatal nurse Ted Maher has now been held 537 days without trial in Monaco's prison on trumped-up and false charges -- charges of causing the deaths of billionaire banker Edmond Safra and Ted's fellow nurse, Vivian Torrente on December 3, 1999. In truth, Ted fought valiantly against two armed, masked intruders to defend Edmond and Vivian and save their lives. During the struggle, Ted suffered severe knife wounds that required one hundred staples to close.
Billionaire banker Edmond Safra was cooperating with the FBI, who was investigating the IMF/Russian loans. Needing a convenient scapegoat for the murder of Safra, Monaco police subjected Ted to three days of grueling torture designed to extort a false confession from him. (see description in "BASIC TIMELINE" in Thread 1 - http://206.112.97.70/forum/a3ad8b097272d.htm ).
Monaco continues to hold Ted incommunicado, preventing him from sending or receiving mail. In fact, they restrict his communication with his family to one telephone call a week. This call is only allowed to last a few minutes and is always monitored closely to prevent any discussion of the case. Ted is forced by his jailers to take a psychotropic medication and is regularly "interrogated" by the Monaco judge -- Patricia Richet. Reports have been received that Judge Richet is a violent person who has displayed unstable behavior in the past. She allegedly has a history of assaulting a fellow judge, putting him in the hospital for a week. She also tears up letters from Ted's children in front of Ted rather than let him read them.
Hundreds of family, friends, work associates, parents of patients, and Army veterans who served with Ted have vouched for him as being a loyal husband, loving father, and an exemplary professional of great skill and compassion. Ted has also been defended by then-chairman of the House International Relations Committee Ben Gilman and Ted's congresswoman Sue Kelly, who have written Prince Rainier III of Monaco on Ted's behalf. Monaco has no evidence of any crime by Ted; they have no witnesses and no credible case against him. Even worse, Monaco has planted false evidence and suppressed vast amounts of exculpatory evidence -- even passing a special Monaco law that enables them to hold Ted four years without trial.
The Geneva prosecutor has said that Safra was killed for his cooperation with the FBI regarding the laundering through Safra's Republic National Bank of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia.
Regardless of the reason "why," it is obvious that Ted Maher is a scapegoat for a murder by others. We are working to obtain his release and to correct the grave injustice being done to an American Green beret veteran and medical professional.
Ted Maher -- a giver of life, not a taker -- needs our help.

Prayers and letters can sometimes work miracles....I will send a letter out this weekend, quoting the U.S. Code/Statute, and some things on this thread.....(I know, a little peon writing, but still....a violation of the U.S. Code/Statute is supposed to protect EVERY citizen of the U.S., not just "important" ones.

The flatbed scanner runs a high-intensity beam down the page, picking out anomalies:
Edmond Safra cooperated with the FBI regarding the laundering through Republic of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia.
Safra was one who played his cards close to his vest; the unique transactions of Republic were known only to him, and their trail died with him.
It was considerate of him to schedule his suspicious death after his wife changed his will to her benefit. . . .
. . . and the very day her change of citizenship was finalized. . . .
He was, you know, only in Monaco to meet with John Bond of HSBC to finalize the sale of Republic which netted Lily three billion.
Lily had sent the security team to the palatial estate La Leopolda, making help quite impossible--
And how can we explain the cowardice of the Monaco police?
The first alarm went in at 4:54 a.m., yet the brave gendarmes only found the bodies at 7:45 a.m.--three hours in the heart of Monte Carlo--
And for the premier citizen.
It has been said by those close to the scene, "So much incompetence does not come cheaply."
Just as so much judicial impropriety must have come at a dear price.
Why did security chief Samuel Cohen not have keys? Because Lily had taken them we are told by a writer on the subject.
Why did police put Cohen in handcuffs when he could have saved Edmond and Vivian?
Why was the burglar alarm disconnected July 1, 1999?
Why did Lily's paid agent Sonia pencil in Ted Maher and Vivian Torrente at the last minute?
Ted drafted a letter of resignation and was returning to his family and his Columbian-Presbyterian job--why would he pull a stunt?
Ted tested negatif for drugs so why would Monaco prosecutor Daniel Serdet continue in his slander?
Why did Monaco police need to extort a false confession?
Why did Monaco authorities isolate Ted from communication about the night in question for three years?
Why did Monaco guards awaken Ted every 20 to 40 minutes every night of the ten-day trial, creating a pitiful wreck of a human?
Why did Monaco police "lose" their emergency call tape for the night of the deaths?
Why did they destroy Ted's original clothing and substitute brand-new, uncut, unstained, prohibited athletic wear?
Why did Monaco authorities snatch Ted's wife and her brother off the sidewalk and ransack their room, steal their U.S. Passports?
Why the threats on Ted's wife and children?
How came the sudden conflagration an hour after Ted was taken to the hospital?
Why did Lily pay off Vivian's husband if not simply to avoid the insurance investigation?
Why did Monaco suppress the testimony of world-class forensic DNA expert Dr. Michael J. Baden?
Why would Ted need to do a wacky stunt to get the respect from Safra he already had?
Sonia was a known problem supervisor with a dizzying turnover rate--why was she retained and bought off by Lily?
If Lily had Edmond cremated, why pretend to have a funeral with a coffin?
If Vivian died of strangulation, spattered with Edmond's blood, how came Edmond to be a red fount?
The trial was quick, but answered none of these questions.

Ted's wife was lured to Monaco ostensibly to see the hero in the hospital;
Lily's car diverted to the police station where Monaco's finest stole Heidi's and her brother's U.S. passports.
Three strangers in black jumpsuits grabbed the brother and sister off the sidewalk when they emerged from the police station,
Shoved them in the ubiquitous black sedan and sped off to toss their hotel rooms and "find" a sealed bottle of lidocaine,
Labelled in French which, as we know, Ted doesn't read, write or speak; and, sealed.
[Despite Ted's insistence that police check the bottle for prints and trace its ordering, they did not; they planted it, period.]
Heidi's stolen U.S. Passport was used to threaten Ted with her indefinite detention.
These two crimes and the role played by the widow were the subject of a letter of protest by Michael Griffith to the U.S. Consulate.

A suit was thereupon filed and is working its way through the court system of the state of New York.
Our observer in Monaco saw Vivian's husband "in high spirits" there soon after her violent death.
Ireneo Torrente was lawyered up and seeking a fat settlement from Lily.
On the verge of payment, Ireneo fired his attorney, and that attorney is now suing him. Ireneo got two million of Lily's money.
Or, of the money she got from Edmond, but she would not let the insurance company investigate; she settled.
Now that the autopsy which was falsely represented for so long as showing Vivian died of "asphyxiation" has been exposed, another suit.
Vivian died of strangulation. Her thyroid was infused with blood and she bore other "combat bruising" noted by Dr. Michael Baden.
Vivian's son and daughter are suing Lily and others for wrongful death.
$100,000,000.
This will afford another occasion for the expert forensic DNA testimony of Dr. Michael Baden;
Another chance to explore the spattering of Vivian's bra, panties and nurse's cap/barrette with Edmond's blood.
The three-piece suit disrobing the naked murder.
