Ted Maher -- former Special Forces; Neonatal Intensive Care nurse
American Green Beret veteran and accomplished neonatal nurse Ted Maher has now been held 537 days without trial in Monaco's prison on trumped-up and false charges -- charges of causing the deaths of billionaire banker Edmond Safra and Ted's fellow nurse, Vivian Torrente on December 3, 1999. In truth, Ted fought valiantly against two armed, masked intruders to defend Edmond and Vivian and save their lives. During the struggle, Ted suffered severe knife wounds that required one hundred staples to close.
Billionaire banker Edmond Safra was cooperating with the FBI, who was investigating the IMF/Russian loans. Needing a convenient scapegoat for the murder of Safra, Monaco police subjected Ted to three days of grueling torture designed to extort a false confession from him. (see description in "BASIC TIMELINE" in Thread 1 - http://206.112.97.70/forum/a3ad8b097272d.htm ).
Monaco continues to hold Ted incommunicado, preventing him from sending or receiving mail. In fact, they restrict his communication with his family to one telephone call a week. This call is only allowed to last a few minutes and is always monitored closely to prevent any discussion of the case. Ted is forced by his jailers to take a psychotropic medication and is regularly "interrogated" by the Monaco judge -- Patricia Richet. Reports have been received that Judge Richet is a violent person who has displayed unstable behavior in the past. She allegedly has a history of assaulting a fellow judge, putting him in the hospital for a week. She also tears up letters from Ted's children in front of Ted rather than let him read them.
Hundreds of family, friends, work associates, parents of patients, and Army veterans who served with Ted have vouched for him as being a loyal husband, loving father, and an exemplary professional of great skill and compassion. Ted has also been defended by then-chairman of the House International Relations Committee Ben Gilman and Ted's congresswoman Sue Kelly, who have written Prince Rainier III of Monaco on Ted's behalf. Monaco has no evidence of any crime by Ted; they have no witnesses and no credible case against him. Even worse, Monaco has planted false evidence and suppressed vast amounts of exculpatory evidence -- even passing a special Monaco law that enables them to hold Ted four years without trial.
The Geneva prosecutor has said that Safra was killed for his cooperation with the FBI regarding the laundering through Safra's Republic National Bank of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia.
Regardless of the reason "why," it is obvious that Ted Maher is a scapegoat for a murder by others. We are working to obtain his release and to correct the grave injustice being done to an American Green beret veteran and medical professional.
Ted Maher -- a giver of life, not a taker -- needs our help.

November 19 is the Monaco National Holiday.
On November 18-19, Monaco celebrates its National Holiday with spectacular festivities throughout the country. Magnificent fireworks will light up the sky on the 18th and the 19th will feature a mass at the Monaco Cathedral. An excellent opportunity to see the pomp and circumstance of the Principality, visitors can see the Knights of Malta, distinguished ambassadors, and state officials decked out in medal-laden uniforms as they congregate in the Place St. Nicholas after the mass. Then it is off to the Prince’s Palace where onlookers can see the Princely family wave to the crowd from the windows of the palace.

The truth can be told in 48 words:
Monaco police held Ted Maher in four-point restraint for three days, catheterized, sleep-deprived. Ted was beaten and his wife and children threatened, to force him to sign a false confession in French which he does not read, write or speak. Ted's innocent and should be freed from prison.
Monaco had 72 hours to beat a lie out of Ted--and has had to keep him muzzled in a cell for three years.

For the crime of defending Edmond Safra and Vivian Torrente, Ted Maher is in jeopardy of being imprisoned for life.
In Alice in Wonderland style, truth is criminal, honesty actionable, bravery defeated by cowardice--
The latest surreal maneuver is by Donald Manasse, paid by Monaco.
Manasse said recently that his main job is to keep Monaco from looking bad--no, really, he said that.
Manasse told Ted that he (Manasse) didn't want Heidi to testify since she would tell the truth.
Don't look at me--I can't make up anything this bizarre.
Then Griffith says, oh, certainly she'll testify.
Manasse and Griffith have a vaudeville routine--when Griffith isn't too busy cadging free lunches in New York and Paris.
Now Manasse says he never said Heidi should not testify.
He says it was something Ted and Heidi worked out--
No, no, no, monsieur Greasy Weasel: You said you hoped Heidi would not testify.
Then Ted told Heidi that you hoped Heidi would not testify.
So, you see, it is a very different thing from "something Ted and Heidi worked out".
Manasse and Griffith might simply allow Ted to tell the truth.
Manasse and Griffith might investigate the exculpatory evidence Monaco suppressed and the guilty evidence it planted.
But, no, they fingerpaint in their own poo.
Ted is still not permitted to receive and send mail, or to freely communicate with the outside world via the telephone.
No one has had access to him for three years--only Manasse.
Only the screaming judge Patricia Richet who attacked judge Hullin and put him in the hospital for a week per Profonde.
Only the magistrate, interrogating Ted without his attorney present--a violation of Monaco law which got two defendants released this year.
Monaco intercepted and destroyed correspondence from Ted to Griffith--a violation of Monaco law.
Monaco's presiding judge said Griffith cannot address the court--
Even per our Consular officials and our Congressional committees this violates Monaco law.
Apparently Monaco trods on its law as it does on the innocent American wrongly held in its prison for three years.
Kangaroos will be in session this month--but justice will be absent.

When Bob said, "Look into this Ted Maher case--he's being set up," I knew it was a well-considered suggestion.
The first place I looked was at Thomas Sancton's hit piece in Time.com December 20, 1999.
Upon examination, Sancton cites the lying Monaco prosecutor Daniel Serdet.
Serdet reels off flowerly crap phrases like, "It was his own dark thoughts that did it,"
and smears Ted with a drug-use slander totally exploded by the hospital tox screen.
I'll take that tox screen over some bloviating boatload of bilge in the pay of a laundering police state.
Sancton uses three bogus "witnesses": a first-wife declared an unfit mother by the court,
A neighbor known to police as a nut-case nuisance,
A "landlord" who never rented to Ted.
Anne Williamson, author of Contagion said she knew when she picked up her paper to read of the fire that Ted was a scapegoat.
Henry Kissinger called Edmond Safra's death "a cruel, vindictive act"--
The chief prosecutor of Geneva was cited on two reputable UK outlets saying:
Safra was killed for cooperating with the FBI regarding the laundering of $4.8 billion in IMF loans to Russia through Republic.
The FBI has not released details of its discussions with Safra--at least not to Americans.
Anne Williamson said the IMF laundering benefited the Clintons, Rubin, Summers, the Harvard Econ faculty and a half dozen Russian "reformers".
It is to be remembered that Al Gore was accused by Tim Russert on Meet the Press with writing "BULLSHIT" on the 1995 CIA report on Chernomyrdin corruption.
[Gore and Chernomyrdin cochaired the commission named for them.]
During the Bush-Gore debate, Bush brought up Chernomyrdin--
Chernomyrdin threatened to sue Bush.
The day of Bush's innaugural, Pavel Borodin was arrested en route to it in New York, was extradited to Switzerland and bailed by Putin for three million.
Borodin received kickbacks through Banca del Gottardo which still has a branch in the building where Safra died.

Ted has been held in isolation for three years--
He cannot communicate with anyone except the stooges of Monaco--
Statements attributed to him are written by these stooges.
Exculpatory evidence has been suppressed, while guilty evidence has been manufactured.
In truth he tried to defend Edmond and Vivian, and was severely wounded by the attackers' knives.
The "sudden conflagration" occurred at 6 a.m., an hour after Ted was rushed to the hospital for 100 staples and many transfusions.
He may be sent to prison for life for his act of bravery--
He's to be sacrificed to protect the very rich and the very corrupt--
Dominick Dunne told Larry King in July,
"I am working every month for Ted Maher."
