Sorry to complain, but for years, "Latest Posts" worked well to get around.
This is....icky.

"It easy to fouget which forum you're on...." It tells you right at the top of the page:
You are viewing News/Activism
Showing Articles and Comments. Click here to view Articles Only.

I kinda like the "members" thing - but I'd really like a profile on the moderators. You know, like a "Miss America" type statement from the Lead, Admin and Sidebar: "I believe in justice and freedom, and in the position of moderator, I will work tirelessly for world peace."
Hehehe.

"Even when one checks a word from the title of an article (Let's say BALDWIN) you oftimes will get another article(s) that has 794 Posts (most of which are about Moose, Hobbits or Cheese) that causes you to have to scan page after page of INDIVIDUAL POSTS unrelated to the article you wish to post. "
Instead of using that "Find" function, use the site "search" function at the very top of this page.
Type in a key word or two from your headline or article, set the options to "match all words" and "order by post time".

"I don't have that..." Right above the latest post/articles you should see this:

Mark me down as finally being disappointed in the changes being made.....seems to be overkill on changes. I would love to be able to pick the 'old FR format'.
I can see where some articles will get short shrift, i.e., VetCoR. Already busy trying to find articles between news/activism and general, I can see myself ignoring this category....and winding up missing articles about campaigning--especially when there's some hot back and forth on a general or news/activism forum.
Also, I don't care to have my name on a list of anything without an adequate explanation of why its there and with my permission....phony name or otherwise.
Aw, but hell, I still want DOS back!!! All these pretty pictures and poke here and there and a window over there drives me up the walls!!

If you don't like this, look at the DU site. What a mess.

I agree, more mouse clicks is no improvement.

Well, duh....Sam...I meant if you're scrolled down on a thread, you post a reply, or a Freemail, then go back...it's easy to forget.....

DU uses one of those retarded Ultimate BBS programs. They are ugly and too busy. FR is pretty simple.
To: Admin Moderator; all
Can I reveal the REAL reason for the new format...JR is getting FR ready for an IPO..He's gonna spin off the "General Interest" forum to a syndicate headed by Registered and Lazamataz....

I kinda like your idea. I'd take it a step further, though. All the moderators seem to have different personalities so I think they should all be given names which would distinguish them apart. Like, a moderator who gets sick enjoyment out of nuking posts/posters could be called something like "Valtor, Moderator of Terror". You get the idea.

The "My Preferences" page is working again it appears. On the drop down box available from the "Latest Posts" page, you can choose it. In there, it allows you to toggle on and off various sidebars, set how many words of an article show up on the latest posts page (so you can see some of an article without actually opening it) Thanks for the reply - but I tried this and it doesn't work. I clicked "none" for lead-in words to posts. I set it. I re-set it. I logged off. I logged in. I rubbed chicken bones on the keyboard. I sacrificed my daughter's hamster "Pumpkin" to the god of HTML.
The dadgum page still has paragraphs and paragraphs of "lead in" on post I don't care to read.

Send all your silver and gold as a contribution.. Keep the diamonds, they're CZ anyway :-)

sorry - those words don't appear - only 'show full', which doesn't work.

How do you ever get to Mail, unless you have received some this day?

The dadgum page still has paragraphs and paragraphs of "lead in" on post I don't care to read.
Go to the bottom of this page and select "SETTINGS" then scroll down about midway and choose "Brief" under LISTINGS..... See if that corrects it for you.....
