US Moves Equipment From Saudi Base to Qatar
Saudi Information Agency and STRATFOR Military/Strategic Forcasting ^ | March 19, 2002 02:40 Greenwich Mean Time | Situation Report Staff

U.S. military forces are moving out of Sultan Air Base Saudi Arabia, according to an unconfirmed report from the Saudi Information Agency, a Washington D.C. based dissident group.

The equipment is allegedly being moved to a military base in neigboring Qatar, which also hosts U.S. forces.

The report comes after a Washington Post story in January that quoted an unnamed Saudi embassy official as saying the kingdom would ask Washington to move its forces out.

If true, the move may be related to a possible military campaign against Iraq.

"That isn't the kind of America I will feel proud to live in."

Then go on and sublet a Third-World country along with those other noted "paragons of patriotism", Michael Moore and Alec Baldwin.

Mmmmmm....Dohas.

BTW, little Qatar has little oil, but more natural gas than Saudi Arabia.

Natural Gas Reserves

Saddam is truly a dangerous man. Proof? He has foregone tens of billions of dollars so he can hang on to this germs and chemicals, that's proof for me. If we can just get the Iraqis to get rid of the WMD and Saddam, we could allow them to take out Saudi Arabia. All we need is Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. They gots the natural gas.

Well then, since the borders are in such dispute in that part of the world I say when we invade Iraq then we work our way South to the North border of Saudi Arabia.....some where South of Mecca.

So what your saying is anything good for America is good for the world? We decide who gets to do what

The way I see it we are doing them a favor. They want to die martyrs, we do not. So we blow them to bits before they do themselves. They are martyred and its nice and quiet in the ‘hood.

Death to terrorists!

Praise coke cola!

CBU is great!

Defend them? From who? You think Saddam would invade them if we left? If anything Saddam is playing his cards right for Arab's vs The World type showdown. Hell even Iran voiced their opinion not to attack Iraq and if any country has the right to blow the hell out of Saddam it's the Iranians for having so many of their people gassed. Saudi's don't need us anymore.. haven't for a long time.. they just haven't had the balls to say so till now.

...all the signs are that we are moving in the direction of the Great Showdown. Late April? Late May?

I don't think our rearmament will be quite ready by that time. I'm thinking Sep-Oct after summer in Iraq.

I think you would reconsider calling me a coward if you were anywhere besides in front of your keyboard.

Thank you for sharing your reasoned and informed response.
Sounds almost identical to the Muslim/Arab view of the world.

You are obviously up to speed on the nature of the problem.

"That sounds ominous. So what your saying is anything good for America is good for the world? We decide who gets to do what, where they do it, and how they do it? And anyone who doesn't listen to us gets hit with our big stick?"

Ummmm....That sums it up pretty good. The United States is the only world super-power and thus the country in a "adult" role in a world full of squabbling dictators, backwards dungheaps, and effeminate leftist losers. What is good for America is good for the world because the American way works better than anything else in this world.

That isn't the kind of America I will be proud to live in... Well, there is China, and Europe of course, where many hollywooders have threatened to move to but have not done so. I wonder why.

The towel heads riding the fence some more. How surprising. How the U.S. turned its head over Saudi transgressions is unbelievable. In short folks we prostituted ourselves for the oil.

Heck, I believe they are the country most responsible for the terrorism we are fighting. Eventually all these repressive regimes must go. The sooner the better. What a bunch of radical wahabi loosers!

I will continue to question....Ah yes, it is nice to be able to question authority. Freeeedom, that's what this country is all about. To protect it, might require us to fight for it, and it might be necessary to fight the whole Arab world. The Arabs hate us because we are free. Name an arab country where democracy lives.

Is this an invitation for Saddam to invade Saudi Arabia, similar to the one American ambassador April Glaspie gave him for Kuwait?

...all the signs are that we are moving in the direction of the Great Showdown. Late April? Late May?

My guess is early April.

We would not have sent Vice President Cheney to the Middle East unless we planned to do something. The longer we wait to initiate action after that trip the more likely it becomes that some of the rulers he talked sense into will change their minds. Hence, we cannot wait long.

Furthermore, a long wait will make it easier for the bad guys to claim we have been scared out of whatever we had planned. That would send a message of weakness that we cannot afford to send.

I think we are very close to ready. Saddam Hussein is toast. The only question is how many other countries line up to fight against us when we launch our attack. My guess is not too many.

I also think it will be Al Qaida's last chance to launch a major terrorist attack with the potential to unify Islam. If they wait until Iraq has fallen, the Islamic world will conclude that Allah is not with the terrorists. Once that perception takes hold, the Islamic world will not unite behind them no matter what they do.

The terrorists are evil, but they are not stupid. Once we attack Iraq they know they must put up or shut up. If they can attack, they will.
