U.S. military forces are moving out of Sultan Air Base Saudi Arabia, according to an unconfirmed report from the Saudi Information Agency, a Washington D.C. based dissident group.
The equipment is allegedly being moved to a military base in neigboring Qatar, which also hosts U.S. forces.
The report comes after a Washington Post story in January that quoted an unnamed Saudi embassy official as saying the kingdom would ask Washington to move its forces out.
If true, the move may be related to a possible military campaign against Iraq.

If we really are pulling out of SA, I hope we destroy everything built with our tax dollars...then pull out and let Saddam go after SA. Then, we can really call the shots with those royals

In great wisdom, you posted,
We are going to need to "rearrange" the entire "arab street" for the next ten to twenty years... Saudi Arabia included. There are two ways to do that:
Number one kill all al Queda and their supporters and the nasty foul killer Iraquis to rid the world of these terrorists.
Number two: Destroy Opec and send the Opecker Princes back to herding goats and riding camels. The way we do that is to become independent of Opecker Oil not more dependent on it.
Then your desire of rearranging the entire Arab Street will happen. With no Petro $'s they can't fund terrorism or the enviralists to harm America/Americans! A dead al Queada or bad Iraqui will never harm or kill another innocent!

When you think about it, Saudi Arabia isn't the ideal spot anyway. With all the Islamic holy places located there, etc. During Rhamadan, there's no telling how many insurgents could hide among the masses, and overthrow the house of Saud in a heartbeat.
It's prolly best we move along for security reasons, and the ports in Qatar are just as good as those in Saudi Arabia.

If true, the move may be related to a possible military campaign against Iraq. Awwwwwwww Nutz!!
I was hoping it would be a military campaign against the financer and enabler of Muslim Mass Murder worldwide, Saudi Arabia.

Next there'll be a 1000 miles radius around Mecca with no US citizens allowed inside.

That isn't the kind of America I will feel proud to live in I'm getting tired of hearing this mantra of the coward.
Nothing can move you to go beyond "naughty" "naughty"?
Had we ignored PC and wiped out the Taliban on genral principle we might have spared ourselves the World Trade Center Muslim Mass Murder1.

Such are the geo-political, global consequences that result from attacking the mightiest economic and military super-power to have ever existed on this planet. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for obliterating the group and the leader who were responsible for 9/11 but like I said at the start of this thing, it is going to end up being much more than that. I don't see how one attack by a fringe terrorist group, regardless of how terrible that attack was, gives our government justification to to whatever it pleases. And if it does, I think people need to take a closer look at who benefitted from that terrible attack.

Well moving to Qatar certainly puts Al Jazeera within target practice range. I always like the name of the capital of Qatar...it's Homer Simpson's fave world capital.

I think you would reconsider calling me a coward if you were anywhere besides in front of your keyboard. See my post #31 and consider your choice of words if we ever meet. I do not trust the government of America as it exists today regardless of the letter behind the presidents name and I will continue to question our motives and the morality of our actions when I deem it appropriate.

We get to protect our citizens, most of the terrorist who flew the planes into the Pentagon, WTC and the field in PA were Saudi's. Al Qeada's financing comes primarily from Saudi Arabia, They finance the madras's in Pakistan which deployed forces against the US in Afganistan, they also fund Mosque's in the US and around the world that promote the Wahhibi sect of Islan which promotes the most virulent form of Anti Americanism. Their Imam's have declared us the enemy and prayed for our destruction. <P. This is self defense.

I suppose you would have been a pacifist in WWII after Pearl Harbor too.

"I don't see how one attack by a fringe terrorist group, regardless of how terrible that attack was, gives our government justification to to whatever it pleases." The terrorists engaged the "Might Makes Right" principle. Once engaged, whomever has the most "might" is deemed "right".
Prior to the terrorists hitting us on 9/11, intellectual debate and civilized rules of diplomacy were the principles in play.
Now it's a new game. It's also one that the U.S. alone is capable of winning.
Note to self: the reason that there aren't modern inventions coming from certain regions of this planet is because certain entire regions are populated by IDIOTS! What idiot would change the rules of the game to benefit his opponent?!
Terrorism has never won a war. It won't win this one, either. People who participate in such a demonstrably flawed methodology deserve whatever they get.

I'd give anything to hear Dubya say this:
'On my command, the forces of the United States of America have begun a long overdue mission in Iraq to topple the regime of Saddam Hussein. This operation, Operation Sand Blast, accomplishes what should have happened in 1996 when Iraq began to defy the UN treaty which it agreed to at the end of the Gulf War. Open and blatant defiance to a UN treaty will not be tolerated. You know, Saddam spelled backwards is Maddas. And this is one Mad Ass we're gonna kick. This one's for you, Daddy... God bless America.'

Saddam's Birthday is on April 28th. Would be kind of neat if that was the day the festivities started.
