This is about 1/2 mile from my house. I was just in the area running errands and it's total chaos there.
News helicopters, at least 20 police cars, fire trucks etc. All the streets surrounding are blocked off with the office workers standing around everywhere because their cars are all in the parking garage and they can't get home.

You know they could get the meterology team to go cover it. It's not like they've been right about anything else for the PAST SIX MONTHS. Put 'em to work. But lately it seems WTVD has been beating them to the scene

You are so right! WTVD was all over the bus burnings at Leesville High School, with live pictures, before WRAL even reported it.

RALEIGH, March 19 -- Raleigh police have confirmed a car fire at the Forum office complex on the 8500 block of Six Forks Road in Raleigh. |
|
|
According to some reports, a car exploded around 12:30 p.m. on the second level of the parking deck, causing one man to fall from that level. The man was taken to Wake Medical Center. His condition is unknown, but officials say his injuries are not life threatening. Major Lewis of the Raleigh police said they evacuated the Forum office buildings. Police say there is a dark-colored bag on the first level of the parking deck adjacent to Misys Healthcare Systems that could possibly be an explosive device. The Raleigh police bomb squad and ATF are on the scene. Witnesses inside the building said the incident appeared to be a domestic dispute involving a man planting a bomb on his girlfriends car. There are four buildings located in the Forum office complex. Parking decks are attached to all of them. |

Domestic Dispute...figures. Better than a terrorist I guess.
Why are bombs becoming the method of choice for domestic disputes? We had a pipe bomb go off in an office bldg. a few years back that was a domestic dispute too.
Wackos everywhere I guess, even in N Raleigh.

Suspicious Package Forces Evacuations At Raleigh Office Complex
Package Found In Parking Deck At Six Forks And Strickland Roads
POSTED: 1:11 p.m. EST March 19, 2002
UPDATED: 3:10 p.m. EST March 19, 2002
RALEIGH, N.C. -- A suspicious package and a car fire in the parking deck of a north Raleigh office complex has prompted the evacuation of nearby businesses.
Raleigh police and other agencies are at The Forum office complex, located at 5800 Six Forks Road near Strickland Road.
Tenants of The Forum office complex, Misys Healthcare and other nearby buildings were evacuated because of a suspicious bag that is still in the parking deck. The Bright Horizons Day Care was not evacuated, but some parents did come to get their children. According to Capt. Don Weingarten of the Raleigh Police Department, emergency crews were first called to the parking deck after what he called a car fire on the second-level of the multi-level parking deck around 12:30 p.m.
There are two such parking decks at the complex. The fire happened at the parking deck closest to Six Forks Road.
The Raleigh Police Department's bomb squad was later called to investigate the contents of a suspicious black bag found on the first level of the same parking deck.
Police said it is routine to evacuate everything within a 1,000 feet of the area. In this case, the evacuation includes three to four office buildings.
Raleigh police, the state Highway Patrol and ATF officers are at the scene.
One man who was injured after falling from the second level of the parking deck to the ground is being treated at WakeMed. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
No word on what caused the fire.
