Sen. Robert C. Byrd, West Virginia Democrat, yesterday said he will delay passage of border-security legislation because it now contains a provision of amnesty for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants.

With that out of the way, I'd like to add that Byrd has his own motives for dragging this out, selfish ones. Hell, he even has some so-called conservatives supporting him now, he's a dangerous buffoon.

There's no reason why illegal aliens should be allowed to be citizens of this great and inevitably just nation after 9/11. They don't deserve it, they know it, and it behooves us to uphold our honor and prestige as a sovereign nation.

Democrats have exposed themselves again as the party of race and of hate as when they owned slaves, their own infamy ultimately damns them.

Speaking as a black voter, I wasn't pandered too. I actually researched for myself what each party stood for and made my own decision to be affiliated with the Republican party. Despite the stereotypes many of us do actually study for ourselves and choose what's best for our families

I was speaking politically, where the fact (not stereotype) remains that 90 percent of voting blacks go Democrat. If you're one of the 10 percent, thank you. You make my point, Bush doesn't need to have this sneaky strategy, as some here are suggesting. If he leads with strength and conviction domestically, like he has the war, he'll get his needed votes, be they from whites, blacks, or Hispanics.

I also would think much more of Byrd if stops this bill. However, I could never be for someone who is pro-choice no matter how many other issues I agree on them with.

the Dems are complaining about the Education Bill .. but they forget one thing .. It's Uncle Teddy's Education Bill Which means they are attacking their own agenda/ideas ...

Problem is, while the Dems may be complaining, we the taxpaying public are stuck with the education bill that Bush signed and thanked Kennedy for. More spending, more big government, no vouchers. If the definition of victory is screw the public as long as the Dems are unhappy, I guess that's good...

In these two cases neither is justified. I do not want law breakers as instant citizens do you?

Lawbreakers? Interesting concept. Kind of like a spreadsheet circular reference. As Mexicans they are not subject to U.S. law. But they come here to work and should follow the law as soon as they sneak in. hmmm. Breaking the law by trying to be an American. hmmm. It's hard to think of them as a common criminal or thief for this "crime". Our ancestors came here even after the Indians thought enough was enough. Were they lawbreakers? Our society has let them in. If we really wanted to keep them out all these years, we could have. But we didn't. I myself would rather would could have found a way to keep them out and only let in those who went through the process but we couldn't and what's done is done. Maybe this is a prelude to a better system of border patrol. In order to cut down on the disruption, consider those who are in as lucky and then put a stop to more coming in. Maybe an soon to come anti-terror initiative.

Good grief we take the rights from our on prisioners for felonies and reward the ones who cross our borders in an illegal manner? Punish one lawbreaker reward another huh?

One simple law is what is asked for working here an offical Visa. Now if they can not and they will not even honor this one law we ask of them, then all the other laws we have will be just as useless to them as well.

The President, the day the bill passed:
We just got 245(I) passed in the House of Representatives. Hopefully, that will come out of the Senate quickly. That's a step toward -- that's a good reform, is one that I support. I also cautioned President Fox at the time that there will be no blanket amnesty in America. I don't think the will of the American people are for blanket amnesty. I think he understands that. And so, therefore, the thing we've got to do is figure out how to make sure willing employers are able to match up with willing employees. And so we'll work -- we're making progress; 245(I) is good progress.

Folks - Get past the garbled syntax and there it is - 245i is only step one in Jorge's Amnesty in Phases. Next comes the employer-foreign employee matching phase, then comes the arrival of everyone related to the people in phases 1 & 2. But hey, what's national sovereignty when there's ethnic pandering to do? This foolishness may help Bush lose the Hispanic vote by a smaller margin next time out - but it's bad public policy and its poison for medium / long term GOP prospects.
