Did anyone catch the two-fold interview on the TODAY Show with Katie Couric?
What a joke! And where was Andrea Yates' representation? No family members from her side! I smell a division brewing in that family.
Just like on Friday during the separate news conferences, hasn't anyone noticed this? Your thoughts and comments.
Then, once the book and film are finished, quietly announce plans to divorce Andrea. Follow that up with your wedding announcement, complete with a People magazine cover story on the "woman who helped me through my darkest hour/gave me a reason to live, etc. Then, live the rest of your life in luxury, appearing on TV occasionally as an "expert" in cases where mothers kill their children.
Andrea Yates is a murderer, but her husband is a criminal in his own right. It's a shame he'll never be prosecuted and (instead) will actually profit from his family's tragedy.
Help me here I am confused I hope this is not what this thread implies.
I totally agree that's the case, and if we delve no deeper than two people, Andrea and Rusty, and one wedding day ... their pathway in life is monstrously disastrous. She finally did say "No!" ... five times over. There's enough blame here for everyone, and enough sorrow for an entire nation.
We used to have little arguements over which one of us got to hold the baby.
This statement just goes to show your intelligence, or lack thereof. Actually, this statement shows that the Yates' used no birth control.
Ah...I thought it would be something like that. Thanks. Not to change the topic, but the rantings of people like that remind me chillingly of certain Muslim extremists...
Maybe he did know. Maybe he was thinking she would off herself. Or maybe he was waiting for her to do exactly what she did.
The whole funeral scene reminded me of something that happened when I was 19...long story...
I was doing daycare for an infant whose mom lived in the same apartment complex as we did, a couple of times she even left the baby over the weekend (the baby was only 3 months old -- mom did not leave enough diapers, clothing or formula, and we paid out of own pocket to get extra stuff) -- a few weeks later mom didn't show up one Monday, and didn't call...I figured maybe she was really sick...turns out that over the weekend mom had gone to visit her boyfriend, and left the baby out in the car while they "fooled around" -- the temperature was over 100 degrees and the baby died...mom didn't even tell me, one of the other neighbors did
anyway--when they had the funeral for the baby -- it was "scripted" in the same way the Yates funeral was (alltho'--thank the Lord-- the casket was kept closed)-- Mom and Dad had written cute little poems, they talked about the stuffed animals and blankets they had in the coffin, but they never really showed a hint of grief -- they seemed almost relieved
I took one look at that tiny coffin and felt like someone had knocked the wind out of me -- I could barely drive to the cemetery, and all I kept thinking was "I wish she had left the baby with me -- I would have taken care of her"
after the funeral mom and dad had a "gathering" at their apartment, and people were passing around pictures of the baby, including pictures of her mom nursing her, and I started crying, then looked across the room and saw "mom" was laughing and having a good old time -- I got up and left and never spoke to her again (I did find out later that she was charged with negligence, did a plea bargin and served probation only)
This mom (and the dad to a lesser degree) had the same attitude that Rusty Yates had, they took no blame upon themselves and showed no emotion. I hoped it was because she was in denial and shock, but I know in my heart that the death of her baby meant more to me than it did to her -- hard lesson to learn at only 19, and newly married
But I did keep the baby bottle that was accidentally left at our house, and I used it for all 3 of my kids -- it reminded me of how precious and important the gift of a child is -- and how quickly it can be taken away
We all come to this with our own personal bias, because of what we have witnessed in life. But most of us have common sense. When you see the whole picture, as much as we can see now, you see Andrea as a person who was a "giver". A shy person. Everyone interviewed who knew her from young girl on to the present, said the same things about her.
Rusty was spoken of in good terms as a young man. Quiet, accomplished in sports. Then he met the idiot False Prophet Warrnicke. THAT changed him, and from there, both their lives changed.
It takes an ego centric person such as Yates, and a " I just want to please you " person like Andrea, for this whole piece of tradegy to take place. Many women on this forum can understand this, cause most of us know a person like Andrea. We also know what being pregnant and giving birth is, and most of us know how much a loving, caring and helpful husband means to us. Having said that...I still hold Rusty Yates as prime reason for what happened. No, he did not kill his children. She did. But he contributed to her mental state. I wouldn't allow any husband to control me, but I know women who have. Andrea was like that. If you read the book, you will get very good insight into just how controlling he was. Now, someone may say.." Well, she went along with him ! " Yes, she did, but like I said...it frustrates me that some women buy into this! And they do ! Combine this with false teaching, and a person who wants to be a "GOOD" mother and wife and person in general, and you have a tragedy on your hands. I strongly suggest you go to Amazon and buy the paperback.
Rusty Yates is going to be WORSE than O.J. as far as media saturation, you watch ! And the Media Whores like the ever irratating Katie Couric, will do thier sympathetic interviews as long as the ratings hold! Today, I signed off The Today Show for good. That low, sad, concerned voice of this mega millionaire hostette drives me nuts. She is like the Cheshire Cat, just laying there lapping up all the juice from the conieving, controlling Yates. Then there is Matt "LOWER". Berating the Jury members. He sounded downright hostile to them. He is a Tim Russert wannabe, if you ask me.
There was something address to Mother Yates about why they left Andrea alone with the children that morning? And apparently an hour in the afternoon before the AMAZING RUSTY came home from work. The answer was..(paraphrased) " Well, there were 5 children to care for, and that is alot, and IT WAS SO EXHAUSTING ! Well, well !! hmmmmmm, let's see here..we have Andrea cracking up for some years, pumping out a kid every year and a half, nursing, homeschooling, living in a BUS, threatening suicide, pulling out her hair, catatonic, and 'IT WAS EXHAUSTING "...does this mean that Andrea could at least take over cause YOU were tired ????
She couldn't even go into a Book Store alone without Rusty leaving her in a car with the kids, while he went in and checked it out first !! Then obediently, the children would have to hold hands, and file in like little soldiers with Andrea following after he asked all the questions, and checked out the CONTENT of the bookstore. ( See book )He told a freind and Dr. that he didn't believe in Mental Illness,...that one had to control themselves and HAD A CHOICE to do so.!! Don't sound like the Rusty we have been presented !
How many men do you know that ONE STUPID DAY after all his 5 kids were murdered, would , dry eyed, hold a press conference in his yard? How many men do you know that would spend time that first WEEK making a WEBSITE !!!! How many men, going through what he did, talk to the police inside his home RIGHT AFTER the murder's, and when the police officer asked for a drink of water, complain to the officer that he doubted if HE WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A CLEAN GLASS in the house ! ? Was Mother Yates too exhausted to wash the dishes? Oh yes, I forgot, Andrea should have done that inbetween plucking her hair out. And RUSTED YATES has the gall to say on t.v. this morning that he was UNAWARE that she was in trouble?????
How many men do you know that would have suffered this loss, and 10 MIN AFTER HIS WIFE WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON would hold a press conference, and chide a reporter to be quiet so he could finish his sentence..and then say " yes, I probably will have more children ". ? And to announce that he would be sueing the pants off the State, the Dr's, the Ins. co.'s..etc. What a guy !!! How many men do you know that would have his sick wife get pregnant over and over even after the Dr.'s told them not to have more kids, and then the day..THE DAY..that she had her 5th baby..went home and he would have her TEACH SCHOOL !!! I wager you can't name one person you know that is that cruel.
Andrea took each little angel and while they struggled, held them under the water until dead. She killed those kids. ....then...she told Rusty.." I FINALLY DID IT " huh? That means to me, she had TOLD HIM or THREATENED to do so in the past. Read that sentence again! It could have been " Well, I told you I was going to do this, and you wouldn't listen to me...now I FINALLY DID IT .
I hope the other two unnamed babies in the state's case, will lead the State to bring him up on neglegence charges. This man is more culpable in my mind than she is. As a side note..not knowing about drugs..so I can't speak intelligently on it..I still believe that they pumped this woman so full of crap that THAT was the cause of MOST of her problem. Someone stated on the Thread this weekend about his wife, and the drugs that were put into her, and I so agree'd with him. But I am no expert on that. I am not an expert on anything. But the rule of Common Sense, leads me to believe that this particular woman, who never had a history of being anything other than a loving , caring, girl and woman..met a controlling guy, coupled with some screw ball religion, and she OBEYED him..she BOUGHT what he told her, along with the False Prophet, of what was required of her SUBSERVIENCE..and she tried to OBEY. She thought that is what God wanted of her.!! I pray God vindicates his Word, and turns the table on this freak husband.
Andrea is dead either way. The babies are dead forever..and the CARING, LOVING, CHRISTIAN (not) NASA ENGINEER, is off to see the Wizard, and get all that is coming to him. OH I PRAY HE DOES !

I think there is a difference here. If you believe in Jesus you know we all are etrenal sinners, and faith in Jesus the savior alone can save you.
Think about it: A family can't come in and intervene between husband and wife. Whatever the husband (or wife) says, goes. The parents (of a spouse) can not do anything.
Wasn't there a case not too long ago that involved a husband of a woman who was on life support and he wanted to discontinue feeding her. The parents had to go to court and I think ultimately lost (I think). Of course, Andrea Yates family could have gone to court, I presusme.
