It is too late Dan. YOU are the RINO. The Republicna party no longer supports conservative social ideas with anything but lip service. It is you (and I) who would not be counted as real Republicans.
The country club boys have a lock on it, and it would be easier to build a new party from the ground up than to tear down the Republican establishment that would fight you tooth and nail. You would have to rebuild the GOP on a pile of ashes after you got them out.
I campaigned for W, but are you aware that a Bush or a Dole has been on EVERY republican Presidential ticket since 1976? I find that astounding evidence that it is a big insiders club. True conservatives are independent thinks and will never make the inside of this club.
Sure, keep working for conservative Republicans every chance you get. Work hard for W in 2004. They will hold the line somewhat until we can build up the Constitution party.
We have six years to get a viable Constitition party going in every state. The next GOP presidential candidate will be much more liberal than W and we will truly have no choice otherwise.

What has the LP won? What has the CP/Us Taxpayers(in Mich) won? Ron Paul is a great rep. Shootist, I thing you agree there. How do we get more Pauls elected. We could get 5 Alan Cropsey(about as good as it gets) in the state senate in 2002. We're winning here on the lower level.

I disagree. The country clubbers are NOTHING without our votes. On the same note we need enough of the country club support to win as well. It's an uneasy coalition for the most part, but without one or the other, the DEMS win. That's why Brett Schundler lost in Jersey, and rino Susan Munsell lost by 19 points in Mid-Michigan in 98(while conservative Mike Rogers won the seat in 2000).

Time to bust those doors open then. Reagan got in.

Agreed! The term RINO no longer has any meaning, as what we call "RINO"s are the real Republicans now.

Well, since the Reformists, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, Greens, Socalist Labor, Socialist Workers, and Whigs are going nowhere, the anti-Rinos will just have to support the Demcorats. It's the only way to get rid of the Rinos.

Dan, let me commend you for a realistic attitude about politics.
I am irate at Teeny Tom Dasshole, Leaky Leahy, and others of this ilk for their lynching of good judicial nominations. A protest vote for a miniscule third party at this juncture seems to me to be throwing away any chance for causing the ship of state to move to the right.

I voted against Spence Abraham since I have no use for liars.
Regret? That simply boggles the mind. Deb Stabenow?

Again, in the political circus, the Big Tent includes RINOs and other political animals. The other party has their Blue Dogs in addition to jackasses, mules, and Donkeys.

A very pingworthy post.
I'd only disagree that RINOs need to be confronted and opposed in all venues.

I never would have voted for Stab. I was stuck with her as a congresscritter for 4 years.

Q: "Too many RINOs....what are we going to do?????" A: Convince the Chinese RINOs are aphrodisiacs; They'll be hunted to extinction.

There is a thread elsewere about one issue voters. If 500 Bush voters in Fla had not voted for him on some single issue we would be in one hell of spot right now. OTH Calif will be an interesting study in 10 months..

Sorry but HELL would freeze over before I would join the Libertarian Party. They believe in OPEN BORDERS! That may have worked in the 19th century when the western half of the US had little population and NO WELFARE.
Today our immigrants quickly learn about all the goodies available to them. I see it every day at the grocery store. Smartly dressed young women towing three little ones and handing over food stamps to the clerks. My husband and I decided to stop at two kids as we knew we could only afford to feed, clothe, educate, etc that many! I always said when the Pope bought the groceries, I would think about having more kids.

MIght work some places. In others, if true blue conservatives are nominated, particularly if they are perceived as social conservatives, it is a forumla for electoral disaster, at least for federal offices. And if you get the two wings, or three wings, or the party at each other's throats, and with hard feelings about each other, that is a formula for failure as well in many places. Each wing needs to get their share. That is how I see it.

Sure, vote Libertian and insure the demo's are in control. Sure makes sense to me. If it wasn't for Libertians the Republicans would have at least two more senators and be in control of the senate. A vote for a Libertian is a vote for a loser and gives the democrats a better chance at being in control.
No thanks.

My son went to a Libertarian Party meeting because he was really excited about a political group that supported the Bill of Rights and property rights. After going to a couple of meetings he called them a bunch of splintered loons. He said the gun people were in one corner and the drug people were in the other. A short time after he arrived for the first meeting, he said some woman tried to pick a fight with him.
You can save your response to me about this. I'm only reporting his experience. There is one thing that you can help me with though. The Libertarian Party is reputed to be in favor of opening up our borders completely. No Border Patrol. Would you care to see if that's true or not? Thanks.
