What is wrong with this b!tch?

She's from the elite class in Mexico and these are about the most arrogant people you'll ever meet.

Sabey, reply #33 is directed at you also.
This shouldn't take long...

What I was commenting about was the chicken little attitude taken by many of "immigration is the end of us all" on threads,

Straw man #1. The debate is about illegal immigration, and you know it.

...saying Bush was a Fox "stooge". He isn't.

Straw man #2. I never said Bush was Fox's anything, let alone "stooge."

Do you not understand the function of a quotation mark?

You were part of the witch hunt and you know it, so please lay off the platitudes.

Ad hominem, accusing me of a witch hunt. That's fallacy #3 on this post of yours, Dane. Nice trifecta, even for you.

Payback is a bitch isn't it.

I'm sorry, you have insufficient funds.

So when do Americans get to buy land in Mexico?

I was in Cabo for a week at the end of February, stayed in some condos on the beach, one of which IS OWNED by a friend of mine. Had a ball, played golf every day, drank way too much, ate great food. While there my friend showed us his lot on top of a tall hill overlooking the bay. I asked him directly..."Do you own this in fee simple?". Answer was YES, any American can buy land down here.

I guess this is the reverse of all the paranoia going on about mass Amnesty. Mexican residents must be as ready to IMPEACH Fox as everybody here is ready to IMPEACH Bush. Why, just think of it, all the finest places in Mexico being bought by those stinking Gringos. I guess we're just taking the place of all the illegals up here. eh?

Nothing to accuse you of, your words(especially your hyperbolic words) accuse themselves.

Man, is your buddy in for a surprise. No foreigner can buy coastal land in Mexico. Call the consulate in your area and ask them.

Name them... actually quote them.

That's how argumentation works. Speak to the point.

Do you understand what a "witch hunt" is?

C'mon, Dane... put up or shut up.

Not true... and my brother just got swindled out of a 30-year lease down there.

The only way for Americans to own land is through a shell game, using a Mexican citizen or company as a partner.

Your friend should get a good Mexican lawyer (they exist), and check out the specifics of his deed.

Maybe not right on the coast, but I sat right on the lot and enjoyed the view. The gentleman I'm talking about is no idiot and does not invest that kind of dinero foolishly. I read the purchase and sale agreements for the Condos; I'm thinking about buying one.

Sorry to disappoint your consulate sources, but the agreement doesn't contain any material differences from any US P&S agreements and it is not a 99 year lease, which is another common misperception. If you don't believe me, go down there and see for yourself.

Ah, the appeal to the authority of some "opinion."

You're running the table on fallacies, Dane.

I quote you, and speak to your points. You never refute me, you simply jump into yet another canard.

Quote me. Show where I was involved in a "witch hunt."

Your unwillingness to even attempt do so speaks volumes about the intellectual shallowness of your opinion.

I took strong advocacy of a particular position, in opposition to President Bush. Is that out of bounds? How is that a witch hunt?

Taking a strong advocacy of a particular position is not out of bounds, but relying on and spreading conjecture and hyperbole is, IMHO.

Shell game property ownership

Obviously, if it does require the straw party transactions, he has accomplished it and I'm sure he had good representation. However, I had always heard what you reflected, that's why I asked direct about fee simple ownership and the answer was as stated.

I met a lot of Americans at his golf club and they are sophisticated people, all of whom live down there. They are not the type to buy on a whim, without sound legal title.

I'm not saying that bad transactions don't happen, obviously they do. Sorry about your brother's circumstance. Hope he can get it resolved favorably.

Fine.

Now... identify my "conjecture and hyperbole."

Then, if you find any, demonstrate how that makes me guilty of a "witch hunt."

Present your evidence... Make a case.

Thanks for the sentiments regarding my pals purchase. You really should check it out down there if you haven't. Frank and his wife and two adopted Honduran boys have been there for over five years, with no problem.

Nah, he's screwed, but I appreciate the thought.

Whatever the deal is with the Americans you met, their "ownership" (title, lease, whatever) isn't going to be the same as a Mexican's ownership. If they're smart, they didn't invest any money they weren't willing to walk away from.

Real estate reform in Mexico would lead to huge amounts of American investment and development. What we have now is a shadow of the potential.

And it's precisely because of the corruption that permeates Mexican culture that the right thing doesn't get done there. All they do is blame America for their problems, and look to us for handouts. They're rich in human and natural resources, blessed with a great climate and no foreign threats, and trillions of dollars of investment capital just North...

But Mexico is still a hole.

Look this isn't a court of law, if you want to sue me then fine, but I am not going to try a case by the internet.

You are anti-immigrant. You have sided and goaded a faction on FR whose animus towards Bush is well known. This faction which you are a party to uses hyperbole and conjecture to make their case.

They have used such phrases as calling Bush a Fox "stooge" and that is putting the hyperbole mildly.

Now if you want to deny that you are part of such a faction that is fine with me. Denial is not a crime, but is easily recognizable.
