God help this country if we ever give anyone a pass for "post partem" depression No one ever got a pass, but there is a case that served a year or so, and then was released. Think it over. AY got this because she killed five. If she'd just killed one-- we wouldn't be talking about it. Sorry-- can't cite the case, but it happened.

Oh brother, Yates being white has nothing to do with it. Go play the race care somewhere else. Have you ever heard of Darlie Routier? Obviously not. Also, there was a Hispanic woman here in Houston several years ago that drowned her children and got off scott free. Go take that crap to DU where it belongs.

I was just reporting what was being discussed on MSNBC about not being in general population, as far as 40 years...that's the total years in the sentence.

No tears shed by the Yates family can move me. I have a HARD HEART. My tears are for the five little victims, which TX "justice" does not recognize. See TX is "more liberal than you think," to quote "future Governor" Tony Sanchez.

Love that Cartoon!!! Looks like Janet Reno and Patricia Ireland had a love child!

I would have no trouble in saying that "Ms." Yates could be a danger to society in the future." No trouble at all saying that. I would not want to sit next to "Ms." Yates for five seconds, much less put her into society.

whoops! race care= race card

You better believe there is a double standard even here in Texas. If the roles were reversed the father would be heading to Death Row, and the mother would have all the sympathy in the world. In reality, we have the murdering mother getting life and sympathy and the father being demonized. Life is just not fair, even in Texas.I completely agree.

"...life is more cruel for the perp."Roughly 30 years ago, death row inmates were asked if they would prefer life in prison to execution. Almost to a man, they said they would.

If "she" were a dude....the circumstances surrounding the case would be totally different and we would base our opinion upon those facts.

You said:
I have been treated for depression many times over the years and even thought of "offing" myself.
That is what my point is, if her husband would have made an effort to get her treated for depression, she would not have went this far. Depression that is not treated can lead to schitzophrenia(sp), dementia, etc.
Her husband was probably one of those who think depression is all in your head, and she just needs to brush it off, and get over it. That's like telling a diabetic to brush it off and get over it. They are both illnesses that need treatment.

Yes, Texas law "is an ass."

I predict her husband divorces her in the next 3 years and remarries. Any takers? Going to be interesting to see if he does. I hope she doesn't divorce him, just to prevent him from marrying someone else, and doing the same mind control crap on wife #2.
They were told that they shouldn't have any more kids because of her state of mind but that didn't stop Russel Yates from getting her pregnant again. Must be they didn't believe in birth control, or celibacy. If he's so 'pious', one would think that extra marital sex would be out of the question.
Perhaps a forced celibate life for him will be a small token of justice for him, jerk that he is!

I predict her husband divorces her in the next 3 years and remarries. Any takers? I'm sure that after he sells the book and movie rights and goes on the talk-show circuit, he will have have a mob of eager groupies who want to help him make more babies to make up for the ones that got broken.

True, but you see, that wouldn't be justice. Whether it would be Divine justice, I won't even get into here: but WE are charged with exacting justice in the case of murder (Genesis 9:6). Here's a classic case of deliberate, premeditated, no-doubts-about-who-did-it murder. It is an index of this nation's spiritual decline that it can't simply weep for the childre, weep for the perpetrator, pray for her conversion, and execute her.

"I was just reporting what was being discussed on MSNBC about not being in general population, as far as 40 years...that's the total years in the sentence."Sorry..I didn't mean to sound like I was snapping at you...I just don't understand why she should be treated any different/better than anyone else. So WHAT if she is on the lowest ladder according to the inmates??? SHE DID IT, DAMMIT. She should be treated like EVERYONE ELSE. /RANT
Which, btw, was not directed at you. :-)

"They'll have that second chance in their golden years."Have you so soon forgotten Clinton's pardons? She could be out in 2009.
