A Disturbing Letter from a Saudi
FrontPageMagazine.com ^ | March 15, 2K2 | Saudi Citizen to David Horowitz

Posted on 03/14/2002 9:38:16 PM PST by rdb3

I RECEIVED the following email from someone describing himself as a "Saudi Citizen." I have no way of knowing whether it is authentic, but its particulars seem accurate to me and I invite readers of FrontPage to comment.

--David Horowitz

***

Message from a Saudi Citizen

Do not forget that radical Islam is more pervasive in the Arab world than Christianity is in the West. There is no "dissent" or "constructive engagement". The goal of Islam is to destroy anything or anyone that is not Islam. The US is responding, but your intelligence services are still sclerotic and slow. Are you paying attention America? There are two fronts on this war: one military (9/11) and one political.

--DH

Islam is colonizing the US, Europe and Asia. Bush is wrong to say that most American Muslims are anti-Terrorism. If they did not cheer in the streets on 9/11, they cheered in their homes. I was with Hussein Ibish and Hamid Faraoui that day, watching them cheering and singing, then denouncing the attacks on TV later that day. Khatami, Hussein and Assad reach out to US democrats, journalists, etc. Many Arabs loved the remarks of President Carter, joking "we may have to kill him last."

Ordinary Americans are rising to the occasion, showing patriotism, sacrificing husbands and fathers. Your coastal elites are assisting radical Islam. They want America to be tolerant of terrorism and to imagine themselves guilty of previous generations crimes. We watch your news. We know this is true. [Bill] Moyers goes as far as saying Judaism, Christianity and Islam are equally guilty of terrorism. These comments are played on Saudi TV amongst reports of Israelis eating Palestinian children. Susan Sontag and Bobby Fischer got front page billing in the Saudi press for comments supportive of the 9/11 attacks, flanked by a pair of stories detailing US racism against Muslims and the killing of Palestinian babies at Israeli hospitals. Lies, of course, but seem true next to actual comments by Americans.

It surprises us moderate Muslims to see half of American society help radical Islam kill America and the West.  Your political left is justifying terrorism in the minds of the "Arab street" as you call it. They forget that Usama bin Laden has higher approval numbers in Saudi Arabia than Bush has in the US. Every bit of self doubt or anti-Americanism helps bin Laden. Every Saudi student that comes home after a US college education repeats the anti-Americanism he hears at university. "You see, they even hate themselves," is a refrain heard from many Saudi graduates of US universities.

I can't tell America what to do, but anyone can see what you are doing to yourselves.

Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Very clear concise and chilling as it does no have the usual attempt to angle, frame and hype in the way we are continually inundated by our medias.

Considered objectively ..... it is worth reading every morning and passing on to all we know. Not simply saying and thinking ...hmmmmmmmm ... and then going on to the next post and letting it fall through the cracks.

Is the premise true? It rings of truth and clarity. It is even a signed piece; whether authentically or not, who knows? It does not have the 'smell' of falsehood apparent in it and ... If ... it is fact: what can we do to signal the complacency of America, gain attention of the powers that be, as well as rouse the power of the people and their outcry?

Are we simply so bound to our life of entertainments and idle things, we are going to look askance and do nothing?

Muslims have outnumbered all other religions. It is the basis of their life. They know we are 'infidels' and theirs is not a religion of freedom and compassion.

This email letter raises the hair on the back of my neck.

Excellent points.

The roots are deep and the view of history it takes to understand and comprehend (by an overview) is seldom taught. It takes initative and the youngsters of the last 30 years see little necessity to study history. Mores the pity.

We have, indeed, become soft and lazy in general. Many exceptions, of course; however sheer numbers are overwhelmingly on the side of 'its no big deal'. Sword rattling, nothing to get in a sweat about ... attitudes of the majority of Americans are prevasive. My opinion ... I pray I am mistaken. I do not believe so.

Thanks for offerring your perspective.

"Radical islam is an insane death cult, and moderate islam is the trojan horse of radical islam"

Wise observation. I agree.

As Islam inflames to destroy all non muslims, we by contrast are constrained to forgive and love our enemies by Christianity ... and then there is the socialist agenda of the left. Foreshadows a dire result, doesn't it?

Success with the books you have penned.

How are they doing?

Are you publishing them yourself or have you found a publisher?

Does that indicate the contents of an anonmyous email are not to be pondered? Valid warnings have been given as alerts previous to attacks and ignored as unsubstantiated that proved to be true.

And various invalid warnings have been circulated as well. Do "Stay Out of Baltimore" and "Stay Out of Malls on Halloween" and "My Boss, a Wealthy Nigerian, is Looking for an Honest Person to Handle Certain Perfectly Legal Monetary Transactions in the U.S., and You Were Recommended (now all we need is your bank account #)" ring a bell?

Yes.

The difference is the importance of the result. While it is annoying and even disruptive to have false warnings ; does it not seem prudent to give attention and notice to warnings that might result in the downfall of America or to the death of our way of life and the lives of thousands or millions of us?

The discernment of consequences in information received is paramount to survival of our nation in some instances. The wisdom to recognize this and act on pertinent intelligence and the resulting ramifications is sound judgement.

To trivialize and discount all such warnings to the trash can is playing into the enemy's view and plan for us. MO

”…the blame game – the Turks, the Mongols, the imperialists, the Jews, the Americans – continues, and shows little sign of abating. For the governments, at once oppressive and ineffectual, that rule much of the Middle East, this game serves a useful, indeed an essential purpose – to explain the poverty that they have failed to alleviate and to justify the tyranny that they have intensified. In this way they seek to deflect the mounting anger of their unhappy subjects against other, outer targets….

If the people of the Middle East continue on their present path, the suicide bomber may become a metaphor for the whole region, and there will be no escape from a downward spiral of hate and spite, rage and self-pity, poverty and oppression…
-- Bernard Lewis, What Went Wrong?, Oxford University Press, 2002.

“The vast majority of all American Muslims subscribe to the strong Islamic tradition of tolerance and human dignity. Yet for one key reason, the extremists have disproportionate influence. One prominent cleric argued in 1999 that “because they are active they took over…more than 80 percent of the mosques that have been established in the U.S.” Although our pluralist ideals tend to view this statement as an automatic exaggeration, the reality is far more sobering. The vast majority of American mosques are funded with Saudi Arabian money, and most of the founders subscribe to the Saudi doctrine of Wahhabism, an eighteenth-century ideology of extreme purity that supports the spread of Islam through violence. Local imams can be appointed by anyone who chooses to fund and/or found a mosque; hence, the influence of this minority ideology is well entrenched among American clerics.”
Steven Emerson, American JihadFree Press, 2002.

This “e-mail” to Horowitz may seem a bit over the top, but if anyone doubts the threat of Islam, the two books quoted above will surely convince and disturb you. I was going to use the term “radical Islam,” but the more I read, the more I believe that all Muslims who hold a strict interpretation of the Q’uran, and who therefore come under the influence of the mosques described above, are a potential threat to America and to the free world.

I agree that we have become lazy as a nation, and want a “quick fix” for all that ails us, but there is no “quick fix,” we are in great peril, and time is not on our side.

Well, you've left out the fact that there aren't really any NEW revelations or warnings in this email, so the fact that it is purportedly written by a Saudi makes it only a little more interesting. Not more significant.

This is stuff that's already been covered.

"Whether or not this e-mail seriously came from a citizen of Saudi Arabia, it does make one give pause and think."

To post an anonymous email making charges of this kind goes way beyond merely irresponsible -- it is legally actionable. I hope David Horowitz gets the libel suit he's asking for. But why post this here, which could get FR in legal hot water?

This phony letter is a provocation, pure and simple, and the "ex"-Communist Horowitz knows it. It just goes to show that he's taken all the old Commie tricks along with him on his journey to the Nutball Right. I would say "David Horowitz, shame on you!" -- but since it is well-known that Horowitz has no shame, it would be a waste of breath.

Deportation is not a bad idea, and it is warranted. But no one will address the real question here: How do you go about deporting them? What's your plan. Spell it out. Break it down.

I was out; however, Ann Coulter explained how non citizen Muslims can be deported by an act of congress, I believe. We cannot, in all seriousness, deport American citizens.

Ann Coulter is making good sense on this issue, but she's even getting flak from some Conservatives because of her writing style.

Pity.

A libel suit by whom? The kingdom of Saudi Arabia? David Moyers? The liberal press? Muslims? No one of these entities has been accused in this e-mail of anything that is not a matter of public record.

Yes this is stuff that has been covered already. I suggest a second thought or two and perhaps a re-reading of the email itself. It is a perspective (one among many) that is clear eyed and revelent to 'what is'.

To be 'ho hum' in regard to reality is unwise. To throw things all in the same pot completely dilutes the strength and nature of the ingredients.

This is not the time for us to be silly and tear down what may be the fabric of our civilization. Would you have listened to or accepted a warning on the events of 911?

Discernment is necessary and a previously determined mind-set is playing into the hands of our enemies.

But, again, he made a shrewd move at that time.

Shrewd my foot. More than half the country has already forgotten about the ramifications of 9/11...and adhere to all the PC/"be tolerant of everything" bull$hit again. Everything is back to normal. It was not shrewd...it was a weak political cave-in to the PC/Dem crowd...plain and simple. Something more radical needed to be done(and still needs to be done) here at home to root out terrorists at home, and to cease immigration till further notice. Anything less after 9/11 is just plain stupid. Do you understand that? These people want us DEAD...they want your family DEAD...they want our way of life DEAD. Its called EVIL...and you don't fight it by making shrewd decisions.

Thanks for the excerpts.

to paraphrase a quote that seems apt ...
"... there is no future there is only the past happening over and over and over again ..."

Rome din't think they would succumb to lesser advanced 'barbarians' either.
