Get Your Fighting Whities T-Shirt
My friends, this is just so great. The Denver Post reports that "the Fightin' Whities," the intramural basketball team of American Injuns in northern Colorado, has been flooded with T-shirt requests "since news broke of the team's satirical mascot protest." The team is taking orders, although they're not quite sure how they'll fill them all! They promise to donate all the cash they make to a Native American charity.
I told you no one would be offended by it - just as over 80% of Injuns aren't offended by names like Redskins, Chiefs, Blackhawks, etc. This team's official name is "Native Pride," but they decided to try to illustrate how humiliating their liberal teachers tell them these mascot names supposedly are. They thought that they would give non-Injuns a dose of their own bad medicine. I said, "This is fabulous. People are going to love it. It's funny, clever and creative."
Well, the school was totally unprepared for the response they received. Everybody wants one of these shirts! Everybody wants to be a Fightin' Whitie! Everybody wants to try out for this team. You probably want one too, and you can get one by e-mailing the kids at fightingwhite@hotmail.com. (Notice it's "fighting w-h-i-t-e, not "whitie"). The next thing - I predicted this but it hasn't happened yet - is that the positive reaction will draw protest from the National Association for the Advancement of Liberal Colored People and other wrongly named civil rights groups.
You'd think such groups would be glad that we've come to a point where we can laugh at this sort of thing, but that's not what they're about. That'll be the next piece of fallout from this. Imagine! Here this team thought they had come up with an insulting mascot, and look who's going to be offended! This is exactly as I predicted, because I understand human nature.
Again, the first step to showing your team pride with a Fighting Whities T-shirt is firing off an e-mail to fightingwhites@hotmail.com. If they get around to responding to you, you can take it from there. Whatever happens, like the team logo says: "Every thang's gonna be all white!"
I can see it now....whites who wear the tee shirt will be accused by PC-ers of offending non-whites, though.... (excluding non-whites, promoting whites...they'll come up with something, I'm sure) (???)
For a group so hell-bent on making other groups change their names and their symbols, I have always wondered why the National Association for the Advancement of Liberal Colored People has never changed its name.
If any of the "Fighting Whites" referred to the NAACP's constituents as "colored people," we would be slandered and boycotted. So, why is it ok for them to keep an outdated and offensive name?
On February 24, 1996, three light aircraft left Miami on a routine flight. Their missions, to search the waters off the Florida Coast for rafters trying to reach the US shores, and bring them help by guiding the US Coast Guard to their location. That day in February, only one plane would return to its home base in Miami.
Tune in to Radio FreeRepublic this Thursday, March 14, at 9 PM EST, and listen to the actual sounds of a terrorist in action, murdering unarmed American citizens.
Sr. José Basulto, founder of Brothers to the Rescue and pilot of the surviving Cessna, will shed light on the events of that day, and detail how the Clinton administration withheld advanced knowledge of the attack from the humanitarian volunteer group, helping seal the fate of these four courageous flyers.
Radio FreeRepublic, fearless talk radio.
The team needs to grow up and do something good instead of whining about the name "the Fighting Reds."
If they stop playing bball and fill the orders for the tee shirts, they'll find big wampum beats whining every day.
I'm with the CRACKER!!!
Buying a shirt will support our political enemies.
It's still good to reward good ideas, even if inadvertantly. They've made White Pride acceptable, since "Fighting Whities" is coined by a privileged minority, it will be acceptable to wear these shirts anywhere. Also they can get rid of all Indian mascots ---they can easily be replaced by other White mascots.
