House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt said he would support the bill with the border security provisions.

The thought of another amnesty for hundreds of thousands of foreign law breakers is a bit too much to take. Bush & Co couldn't have found a better way to sap my enthusiasm for all things Republican.
These aren't the problem.
Those who are trying to undo the result of the War of 1848 are.
Those who will make this a third world country are.
Those who won't integrate into our society and learn English are.
Those who make up to 1/3 of our prison population in the West and Southwest are.
But you know that, don't you. If not, spend some time in Bisbee, AZ.
I am not encountering anyone's wrath. My comments are directed at the knee-jerk commentaries to the effect that if Bush allows (pick your single agenda issue, i.e. stem cell reasearch, some work visa immigrants who over stayed and did not leave, not banning ALL abortion, etc, etc) or the Repubs allow (pick your same agenda item), then they will never vote for him again and it will be the death of America and the conservative party, yadda, yadda. These 'single issue' types more than likely did not vote for republicans in the first place.
I do not agree with every item in every bill either, but I think that to jump on the 'travesty' ban wagon, in this case, is over reaction. There are many immigrants who do work hard and contribute to society (likewise there are Americans who are nothing but a drain on society). It is those 'contributors' with family ties or roots here that the amnesty provision here is trying to capture. Not the bad element of illegal immigrant, border crosser, or completely undocumented worker.
If you feel this provision makes this bill a travesty, then I respect your opinion. My opinion is that this is really minor, in fact very limited in scope and in time in effect, compared to the security provisions of the bill. These should be the focus of truly concerned Americans.
Strategy means winning the war, not necessarily every single skirmish.
Make that Northern Euopean civilization and the answer is not only yes, but Hell yes!!
Name some "skirmish" that conservatives have won. >
Don't waste my time.
All of the above.
All I hear is ranting but no solutions.
Where are you alls "solutions".
BTW rightofrush, what do you think of Ron Paul your hero siding with Bush?
The death knell of your post.
Ron Paul is now toast in his fund-raising efforts.
Solution (only one necessary)?
Fund and then require the INS to do its job.
This won't happen, as it would interfer with our intended path (Bildeburg ain't no McDonald's competitor) to 3rd world status and UN citizenship.
Don't take this as a flame, but posting the same old U.S. Newswire dreck doesn't adequately support your position.
I repeat, there is nothing in the bill that indicates "reduced scrutiny" of illegal aliens, who already face no scrutiny whatsoever. You cannot reasonably assert that by adding 600,000 to a million new cases to the INS rolls that you "reduce" anything. Quite the contrary, you obviously add to the workload which already has pushed INS to complete paralysis.
So your position makes no sense.
Finally, I've been researching these issues for more than 5 years, and understand them to a depth that you will never possibly fathom from reading newspaper articles and listening to fatuous pols.
More likely yours. If you seriously can not see any conservative victory since the last election cycle, you are truly blind. Small steps maybe compared to where you would like to go, but you can not seriously ignore tax cuts, military sending boosts, the shift away from public funding of abortion, clear national defense policy and strategy including long term preparation in defense of tomorrows threat, foriegn policy that is unambiguous and pro-western, the shift away from government handouts and a return to respect for church and faith based supprt systems, the general tone that we are responsible for our own actions. From your bio, I can see you will not be happy until Pat Buchanan is elected president, in which case you will leave this Earth unfulfilled. Look around and answer your own question about skirmishes won.
End welfare. Enforce hiring documentation requirements. Those two items together will end illegal immigration without requiring more federally-employed bodies.
