USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

Anaconda is wrapping up, according to the latest reports. Only 100 or fewer al-Qaeda 'dead-enders' still holed up in the cave complex.

God bless our troops! They're the best.

Good morning. "Another great Army day ahead of us" (a quote from a crusty old sergeant major I knew several, no probably many years ago).

For those who love the philosophy of hypocrisy and ambiguity. Also for those of us that are old enough to understand George Carlin! A few statements to ponder...George Carlin quotes:
1. Omitted
2. One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.
3. Atheism is a non-prophet organization.
4. If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?
5. The main reason Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live.
6. I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
7. What if there were no hypothetical questions?
8. If a deaf person swears, does his mother wash his hands with soap?
9. If a man is standing in the middle of the forest speaking and there is no woman around to hear him ... is he still wrong?
10. If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?
11. Is there another word for synonym?
12. Isn't it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do "practice"?
13. Where do forest rangers go to "get away from it all"
14. What do you do when you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?
15. If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?
16. Would a fly without wings be called a walk?
17. Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?
18. If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
19. Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?
20. Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?
21. If the police arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?
22. Why do they put Braille on the drive-through bank machines?
23. How do they get the deer to cross at that yellow road sign?
24. Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny.
25. What was the best thing before sliced bread?
26. One nice thing about egotists: they don't talk about other people.
27. Does the Little Mermaid wear an algebra?
28. Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery?
29. How is it possible to have a civil war?
31. If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest drown, too?
32. If you ate pasta and antipasta, would you still be hungry?
33. If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
34. Whose cruel idea was it for the word "Lisp"; to have an "S" in it?
35. Why are hemorrhoids called "hemorrhoids" instead of "asteroids"?
36. Why is it called tourist season if we can't shoot at them?
37. Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of that song?
38. If the "black box" flight recorder is never damaged during a plane crash, why isn't the whole airplane made out of that stuff?
39. Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?

Good morning John. Thankfully, Anaconda is winding down. I salute the courage of all our brave soldiers!!

Emerson
Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to the end, requires some of the same courage which a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men to win them.

Alfred North Whitehead
True courage is not the brutal force of vulgar heroes, but the firm resolve of virtue and reason.

Good morning, all. Grab a mug of coffee, burnt toast (if you must), eggs, ham, grits, biscuits with strawberry jam, and fortify youselves for the new day. What can we do today to support our President and our troops? What can we do today to make our towns safer? Let's roll!

Good morning, all. This is my first morning of leave, so of course I have a list of chores to do around the house in anticipation of the arrival of the In-laws, so I must be brief with what's on my mind.

A few days ago, a Navy SH-60 Seahawk helicopter was lost off the coast of Greece. The crew has not been found, but is presumed dead. The two pilots were young Lieutenants, and the Enlisted Aircrewman was a 21-year old Aviation Warfare Systems Operator Second Class, the same rate and rank as I. He also wore these:

I did not know him personally, but in our small community, it can be said that I knew his type well. He was, in addition to being a subhunter like me, a Rescue Swimmer, which is a yet higher calling. He and his crew were based out of NAS Jacksonville, as I am.

They were on a simple, routine functional check flight that is performed on aircraft after maintinence is performed on the bird. I've done thousands.

I don't know if this has been posted here yet as a story, but it was on my mind for obvious reasons. I know you all join me in wishing all our prayers and condolences to the families of these three brave men. Military Aviation is a dangerous business even when no one is shooting at you; I had a plane I was on catch fire last week. Thank you all, once again, for all your kind words of support and caring. They are more valuable to us than you can possibly imagine.

BRAVO ZULU TO ALL AVIATION WARRIORS, REGARDLESS OF POSITION OR PLATFORM!!!!
