US researcher hoping to discover body of Jesus in Kashmir tomb
THE HINDUSTAN TIMES ^ | MARCH 11, 2002

An American researcher who believes she has found the final resting place of Jesus Christ is campaigning to exhume a body at a Muslim shrine in Kashmir for scientific tests.

Suzanne Marie Olsson, a New York-based researcher is currently in Srinagar, studying the Muslim shrine of Rozabal.

While Muslims say Rozabal houses the tomb of Yuza Asaf, a Muslim saint, many researchers believe it contains the body of Jesus Christ.

To put an end to speculation Olsson has suggested exhuming the remains at Rozabal for DNA testing and carbon dating.

"This will trace him (the saint) to his origin ... and resolve the raging controversy over the identity of the place forever," she told the Sunday edition of Kashmir's leading daily, the Greater Kashmir.

Olsson has already dug up a shrine at the Murree hill station in Pakistan under the supervision of archaeologists Ahmad Hassan Dani and Saida Rahman.

Muree is believed to be the resting place of Jesus' mother, Mary (Marium).

"The exhumed remains have been sent for the DNA testing and the report is awaited," she told the newspaper.

"Now Rozabal holds the key. If the remains there are sent for testing and then tallied with the results of the Murree project, it will either establish the link between the two shrines as being of similar origin and thus authenticate the Marium-Jesus theory or prove it wrong for good."

However, her project has run into trouble with the managers of the Rozabal shrine, who are strongly opposed to its "desecration".

"We will never allow it," said Mohammed Amin, one of the managers.

But Olsson, stressing the "purely scientific nature of her work" and her identity as a "seeker of truth", is pleading to be allowed to "verify the origin and identity of the saint" to put to rest wild speculation.

She has even written to Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah for help.

Olsson also believes Moses is buried in Bandipore in north Kashmir, the Islamic prophet Haroun at Harwan, on the outskirts of Srinagar, and Solomon at Takht-i-Suliaman in Srinagar.

"You have more Christian holy sites than even Egypt or Israel," she said in her appeal to the chief minister.

Olsson says she wants to unravel the truth about the shrines so that the scenic Himalayan region of Kashmir, ravaged by a decade-long Muslim insurgency that has claimed 35,000 lives, can become a pilgrimage centre for Christians and Muslims.

Be kind of hard to dig up something that isn't there...

Exactly.

If the Biblical account of the last days of Christ is correct, there is absolutely no way he could have lived to make a journey to Kashmir. Jesus died. One may debate the resurection, but one cannot debate the death.

Everyone knows that the real bloodline of Christ found its way to France and the Merovingian kings!

AND to the Masons who control the Illuminati!!!

Seriously though, the story of the priest in France (I forgot his name) and some of the stuff he found is quite strange.

The secular world says this shroud is not the one that covered Jesus. Can't have it both ways. The Christian view is we just don't know.

I also vote for Yuza. The body in that tomb, is not the body of my Lord and Savior, for He has risen.

The whole Rennes story, especially the priest, is disturbing.

Then there is that mess regarding Glastonbury.

I actually visited southern India, where there is a Jewish presence dating back to the Babylonian captivity and a Christian one going back to Thomas. The Kashmir business may not involve Christ, but I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas didn't die at St. Georges Mount in Madras but of old age in Sringar.

In some of my reading, I've seen comments that state that there is some specific genetic identifyers for Jews, and even for which tribe they are from. (Due to mitochondrial DNA which is passed from mother to their offspring that remains unchanged) If I'm not mistaken, there are also specific genes that can identify someone from the House of David. That would narrow the identity of any remains pretty much. If these remains were identifed as members of the House of David, then they could be tested for time of death, age at death, and other circumstantial evidence could rule out or rule in who it is or is not.

Good! I see you have a keen mind for scientific research!
Can I interest you in expending a small fortune to help me discover the resting place of U.S. Grant?

Rumor has it he's buried in the vicinity of New York...

But, as you well know, the first step in verifying the truth is to eliminate the untruths!

-Our expedition will take us to Rio de Janerio, The Bahama's, Australia, and the better restaurants of Rome and the Gold Coast of Italy, followed by a trip to the Swiss Alps!

-Once we have eliminated those possibilities...we can begin the real search! Cruises to the Bahama's, The South Pacific, and Travel to London, Paris, and Sydney!

Finally we we return to New York, rent exclusive offices in a high-rent district and compile our research. Before we decide to continue the search.

DON"T MISS OUT ON THIS EXCITING OPPORTUNITY!
(This offer void in Arkansas...they got enough trouble funding some museum.)

Ah Pierre Plantard. Descendant of the J-man himself. Don't tell me he died without leaving any offspring? Have "the desposyni" died out???

He's got a son who's still alive and kicking. I'm 27 and his son should be about the same age (Plantard was pretty up in years when he had him).

Hey did you ever play Gabriel Knight 3? They lifted the whole plot of that video game from the... "theories" in that book. It was fun :)

Haven't played that one yet. Do you get to run around the Tour Magdila or something? :-)

Supposedly there is a church in western India, still meeting, that was founded by Thomas himself. Would love to find out if that's true.

Also would love for that priest in Ethiopia to bring the Ark of the Covenant out for all the world to see :-)

(Tour Magdala) Argh, don't remind me. I seem to recall having to keep go up there to "look through my binoculars" and find certain landmarks. Darn frustrating adventure game puzzles.

Yes, pretty much the entire game takes place in or around Rennes-le-Chateau :)

The H stands for Haploid. But, if he's in this tomb, or in any tomb, then this sort of disproves that it was Jesus, if you get my drift.

BTW, I read Holy Blood, Holy Grail five years ago. Some stuff in that would be downright disturbing to a Christian new to the faith (as I was at the time) but for another more mature, there's some interesting evidence/speculation to be found.

Studied it very in-depth on and off for about three years and my hunch is this: the Merovingians/Plantards/St. Claires are not the descendants of Christ, but there's sure as heck something amiss going on.

"If there's a tombstone, maybe we'll finally know what the middle initial 'H' stands for. ;^) "

Oh, great! That question is going to keep me up all night. I'm still wondering who is Homer Simpson's other next door neighbor.

When the Romans overran Jerusalem in the late 1st century, thousands of Jews were crucified. Not to mention that they were persecuted almost everywhere they were anyhow. One would not expect a crucified Jew of that approximate time ("carbon dating" isn't very precise) to have a high likelihood of being Jesus of Nazareth even if (for the sake of an argument I don't believe for a minute anyhow) he was only a mere human.

Prepare to be disappointed the way Homer J. Simpson was disappointed when he found out that his middle initial stood for "Jay". Because in the end the "H" could for all we know stand for the old Hebrew name of Eitch!
