It is the first postage stamp to depict individuals that are still living.

I believe that at least one of the five people on the Iwo Jima flag raising stamp was still living when it was issued.

I think a great number of these stamps will be purchased, but a smaller number will actually be used for mail...

I'm glad they didn't insist on re-touching the photo making them all minorities... (see N.Y. statue)
