It is the first postage stamp to depict individuals that are still living.

I believe that at least one of the five people on the Iwo Jima flag raising stamp was still living when it was issued.

These stamps weren't politically correct either . . . and probably showed more than one person still living, considering they were issued in 1946.

I just heard that it will be a 45 cent stamp....8 cents going to charity.

45-8=37 sneaky price increase. I still have a huge roll of 33 cent stamps

No living person was recognizable on any of those stamps. The faces on the Navy stamp were likely from the artist's imagination.
