A controversial educator campaigning to head the state Board of Regents supports ebonics and a bizarre belief that blacks are more susceptible to drug addiction because of their skin pigment.

Regent Adelaide Sanford, who is black and has been quoted as saying white students were not her "agenda," has been an ardent supporter of ebonics, or black English, a form of slang that gained notoriety when it became part of the curriculum in Oakland, Calif., in the '90s.
