Tom Daschle Senate Leader and former Intelligence Officer Had NO CLUE about Shadow Government!
Fox News Channel ^

Posted on 03/03/2002 5:23:28 AM PST by Recovering_Democrat

I've heard it all. The U.S. government has had a "shadow" government contingency plan for 40 or 50 years, and Tom Daschle is just now expressing his ignorance about the concept. Is he really this stupid, or is he lying? Either way it's unacceptable to have such a man making policy decisions for our nation. My friends on FR who have Fox News Sunday say Tom Daschle today expressed concern about not knowing about the "shadow" government President Bush is beefing up in case of a nuclear attack on Washington DC.

Isn't this clown the Senate majority leader and a former INTELLIGENCE officer? Wouldn't you think someone who supposedly has all these resources would know about a basic backup to our government that has been in place since the mid-1950s????

I am embarrassed for the people of South Dakota. Daschele represents the remnants of the old bootlegger gangs that spilled over from Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. Most of the folks in SD are decent, honorable people.

"Most of the folks in SD are decent, honorable people."

didn't commie tommie need a majority to get elected? if so, how does the math work that the decent people are in the majority in that state?

IF Daschle had any diligent and responsible sense of priority and honor he would have kept his mouth shut rather than running to the nearest microphone and whining his concerns.

It is almost as if Daschle is decrying "How dare President Bush continue to adhere to his sworn duty to protect, defend, and preserve our Constitution and America's borders. Is this a new tactic?"

Like Ann Coulter stated recently; Tom Daschle is the "Dukakis of the Dakotas". Throw it at him until it sticks.

He's peddlin' mighty fast to get his kisser on the tube. That's all this is, poor guy.

Strongly suspect his career is slowly sinking into a pinkish sunset.

As I have said, Daschle is at his best when he operates quietly in the background. That is why he was so successful as a minority leader. But as majority leader he is now in the spotlight. He is still trying to use the same tactics he used as minority leader - and while they are working - they are having a overall negative affect on him and his party. Many people (who even know who he is) now see him as a small man (no pun intended).

What I found interesting in some news stories and talking head discussions of the "shadow government" was some of the items it was claimed the shadows would need to exist to "make sure these things go on" after a devastating attack on D.C.At least some of the things mentioned have no direct connection to the federal govenrment and would,no doubt, continue whether anyone in D.C. was alive or not.Thats probably disappointing to many inside the beltway, but its a fact.
