I wasn't born then either but I am very appreciative of what those men did. I just saw the movie and it was excellent. It seems like the last few years have been full of good and what I imagine and hear to be realistic war movies. Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down and We Were Soldiers are all on my must own list...

Well, I'm drained. I saw the movie. Wow! I also signed the petition. Is "Garry Owen Sir" a song from Custer's days? That's what I got so far. What was the song about?

Thanks for the review. I just came back a few minutes ago from watching "We were soldiers...." Finally a decent, powerful movie about Vietnam. You mentioned "Some mother's son.." Some years ago I returned from my second tour in Nam. While there I got a "souvenir" a towel and plastic belt off a dead Vietnamese soldier. I was going through some things and asked my mother who is now dead and hopefully in heaven if she would wash the towel for me and I told her the story. She began to cry. When questioned she said: "That towel belonged to some mothers son." I can't even think about that incident anymore because it make me so sad for her and that Vietnamese soldier.-----Movies like this one make me cry and make me sad and remind me of the greatness of America and of men like Ltc Moore and the soldiers who died and decent people like Mel Gibson. Mel Gibson shows that decent and holy people like himself can still survive even though surrounded with filthy leftist scumbags in Hollywood and can still give us hope for America and the human race.

...ALOHA abigail2 ...Apologies for getting back to you so late. We were told that GARRY OWEN was a 15th Century Guerilla Hero of Gen. CUSTER upon arrival at Ft. Benning GA before leaving for Vietnam in 1965. Turns out it is an old Scottish Limerick Song that caught the fancy of CUSTER when he first heard it, liked it and left it in ...his own 7th Cavalry Regiment.

Do you have a written review over there? If so, I'm not finding it. I'd be very interested to read what you have to say about the movie and its accuracy. My 15yo son and I saw it yesterday, very moving.

Thank you Ronnie and thanks for serving in that battle and coming home to what must have been a horrible reception for you all! You and all the other vets have been to hell and back and very few appreciated it. WELL, I MUST APOLOGIZE FOR US. How selfish and self centered we were...
