AHMADABAD, India March 1 Angry Hindus set fire to homes in a shantytown in western India on Friday, killing at least 27 Muslims as they slept, police said. The latest violence raises the death toll in the series of attacks on the religious minority to more than 100.
At least 76 people died in attacks Thursday, when Hindu rioters stormed a Muslim neighborhood and then kept firefighters away for hours, dragging out one former lawmaker and burning him alive. The attacks were revenge for a Muslim assault on a train.
In Friday's attack in Narora, on the outskirts of Ahmadabad, about 300 Hindus set fire to a Muslim-dominated shantytown in an industrial area at about 2 a.m., Deputy Police Commissioner P.B. Gondya told The Associated Press.
"We have recovered 27 charred bodies. The people were asleep when the incident happened," Gondya said. At least seven women and eight children were among the dead, he said. Another 42 people were hospitalized, some with burns over 80 percent of their bodies.

"Most Christian faiths recognize Islam as worshipping the same God as them. " Anyone with half a brain can see that if you have one God with a son and another god without a son, then they are not the same god...I would suppose that means Christians and Jews don't worship the same God either, then.

Facts can really look like BS to the ignorant with an agenda.
Leaving my original point: Hindu world-view (staying there and putting up with that baloney) is not generally conducive to success.
I love the people, the country, their history, their food, their fun-loving spirit, etc. But having lived over that way for 6 months, I remain convinced that their world-view hinders success.
Namaste!
Pre 9/11/'01 most Americans would wish to hear about both sides in India, and weigh it out fairly. Now, it takes no effort, to jump immediately to the anti-Islam point of view. I do.
To some extent that is correct, at least in that Christians believe in God in three persons... Father, Son and Holly Ghost and the Jews do not. However, it is different with the Jews than it is with the Muslims in that Christ was a Jew, as were his parents. The Father in the Trinity is clearly the same God the Father, however the Jewish religion predated Christianity - not so with the Muslims. The Jews are blind to Christ out of pride, and that will cost them.
The fact that the Muslims claim that their god is the same does not make it true. If you examine the life and teachings of Jesus and compare that to the life and teachings of Mohammad, they are in direct opposition. Mohammad was the complete opposite of Jesus. Jesus was God as part of the Trinity. What do you suppose the opposite of God is? Could it be...... Satan???
I have no knowledge of Hindu extremists. They didn't spoil the 1972 Olympics, didn't roll a wheelchair-bound man overboard from the Achille Lauro, didn't start (and lose) wars in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, didn't bomb a plane over Scotland, didn't twice bomb the WTC in NYC, ad infinitum.
Right now, they look like "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." They would have to be very, very bad to reach the depths of musli extremist excrement.
The Hindus burned the Muslims because the Muslims burned all those Hindus on the train the other day. You can't really blame them for fighting back ---it was horrible the way the Hindus were killed.
That's one incident. The Hindus have a long long way to go before they catch up to the Muslims in violent acts. The Muslims have been killing thousands and millions of people throughout the world. At least if you stay out of India, you can be very safe from whatever violence a Hindu might commit ---unlike the case with Muslims where you can be an American on a US plane or sitting in a NY office and be killed by Muslims.
I think this was addressed already, but that practice ended before 1700. Where the hell did you get the idea that people (in the US) were doing this 200 years later?
-- were witches not burnt at the stake in America as recently as a century ago?
I apologize for a rather foolish statement on my part, as has been twice pointed out to me -- I clearly wasn't thinking when I wrote that -- it should've read "a couple of centuries", as I thought the practice had survived until the mid-18th century. I will take greater care in stating facts in future.
I must say I am disappointed that no other points in my posts were addressed. Again, I apologize to all whom I have offended.
he had just finished mocking other freepers for their "ignorance"!
I have already posted an apology above. For the record, it was never my intention to mock anyone! All I have said in my message was that those criticizing Hinduism were rushing to judgment without considering certain factors -- I was merely calling attention to certain points and I do not see how this could be construed as "mocking" or suggesting "ignorance". I have nothing but the greatest respect for fellow members of this forum -- let me be clear about that.
The fact that the Muslims claim that their god is the same does not make it true. Jesus was God as part of the Trinity. What do you suppose the opposite of God is? Could it be...... Satan???I'm not sure if the main Protestant churches have taken a stand on this issue, but the Roman Catholic Church considers Moslems to be incorrect worshippers of God the Father, not believers in a separate entity. I would assume the Orthodox faiths do as well, because the Byzantines originally considered Islam to be a Christian heresy.
